| abstract | - "Canon Protection Initiative" is a term for the collective effort put forth by PPCers, OFU heads, MSTers, GAFFers, and all goodfic writers to ensure that a fictional world and all its denizens are treated with respect whenever they are borrowed for fanfiction use. Entities qualifying as members of the CPI may or may not be formally affiliated, and may use widely different methods. For instance, the OFUs aim to prevent bad fanfiction by teaching writers how to be better at it; the PPC scrubs the effects of existing badfic from the plot continuum; and GAFFers and MSTers basically just make fun of it on the Internet without the use of a complicated metafictional story universe.
