Clayton Grimm would continue to operate as an ODST for most of his career. Grimm would participate in battles on Harvest, Arcadia, and other engagements. At some point in his career, Grimm would become a Drill Instructor (DI) for the UNSC SPARTAN-III Program, in which he trained the SPARTAN-IIIs of Alpha and Beta Company. ONI had hand-picked Grimm due to his combat experience and disciplinary nature. Grimm would prove himself as instructor, by gaining the respect of the even the most troublesome of Spartans. This is where Clayton began his association with the UNSC Office Naval of Intelligence. Prior to the completion of Beta Company's training, Grimm was then transferred into the 53rd Armored Division on the planet of Actium to "help with the war effort". Shortly afterwards, Covenant armada had invaded Actium, which up led to the 53rd Armored launching their legendary counterattack that destroyed the three Covenant staging zones. Clayton Grimm, along with the rest of 53rd, were reported as killed in action during the final days of the Actium campaign. Grimm was given posthumous awards for his actions on Actium, including the UNSC Legion of Honor. Grimm was honored and remembered by his friends and surviving family at his funeral. However, there have been some unconfirmed reports and rumors that Clayton Grimm is still alive, and that the Actium story was an ONI-manufactured cover story, which seems to suggest that Grimm is still associated with ONI in some capacity.
