| abstract | - Larry Dale Wright (born October 8, 1951 in Regina, Saskatchewan) is a retired professional ice hockey centre. He played junior hockey for the Regina Pats and Regina Blues and also spent one season with the University of Minnesota - Duluth. After scoring 84 points with the Pats in the 1970-71 season, The Philadelphia Flyers chose him 8th overall in the 1971 NHL Amateur Draft. Wright turned pro in 1971-72. He was assigned to the Richmond Robins where he scored 22 points in 44 games, and also with the Flyers, scoring only one assist in 27 games. Over the next two seasons he played well for the Robins, but the Flyers had clearly given up on him. He was traded to the California Golden Seals in 1974 as part of the Reggie Leach trade, but had no more luck out west than he did with the Flyers. In 1975 Wright returned to the Flyers as a free agent but only saw action in two games with the big team, finally scoring his first NHL goal. He went to Germany in 1976-77 to play for the Dusseldorf team. Wright returned to the NHL as a free agent with the Detroit Red Wings. In 1977-78 he played his first full NHL season, scoring 3 goals and 6 assists. He retired in 1979 after playing a year with the Kansas City Red Wings. In the NHL Wright played in 106 games, scoring 4 goals and 8 assists.
