| abstract | - The Third Battle of Karzabrog was a short, violent engagement in 105 ABY which saw Karzabrog conquered and incorporated into the Golden Empire. Though it was the first engagement between the Empire and the Horzyx, it was called "third" because there had been two battles at Karzabrog in the Shield War which ended six years before. The Empire dissolved the Zarban Hegemony (the other side of the Shield War) and absorbed its worlds in the second half of 104 ABY. Pointed the way to Karzabrog, the Empire went there next. The Horzyx were unwilling to surrender their homeworld without a fight; some flatly refused to ever kneel to alien conquerors, while others could find their way to the idea but not before the conquerors had been tested in battle. Prime Legate Tariun Sakaros was more than willing to oblige, and the Prime Fleet made short work of the remnants of the Horzyx navy. The ground assault consisted of Massassi Cohorts, reinforced by the regular Royal Army and commanded by Aquila Corcer. Many of the best and bravest of the Horzyx armies had perished in the Shield War, and the Third Battle of Karzabrog was accordingly one-sided. The Horzyx surrendered after a day of fighting.
