  • Johann von Aldringer (also spelled Aldringen, 1588-1634) was an Austrian soldier. He served the Catholic cause for much of the Thirty Years' War. Eventually, he became Count Tilly's artillery commander, serving at the Battle of Breitenfeld and the Battle of Rain. Tilly died at the latter, and Aldringer succeeded him (although at the Battle of Rain proper, Aldringer was knocked unconscious quickly after assuming command). He was made field marshal at the Battle of Alte Veste, and was killed at the Battle of Landshut, which took place on July 22, 1634.
