As his condition worsened and he was becoming more animal like he became a serial killer and the media named him Killer Croc, years later after killing many people he was put in prison but after getting broken out of prison he joined the Outsiders.

- Born with a disfiguring skin condition, Waylon Jones grew up amongst constant bullying due to his reptile-like appearance. Though he made a living in his adulthood as a sideshow carnival "freak", Jones eventually grew bitter against humanity, and became a criminal known as Killer Croc. Though his intelligence varies from story to story, Jones is always portrayed as one of Batman's most physically challenging enemies, with strength bordering on superhuman in several incarnations. In addition, his rough, disfigured skin often makes it difficult for the Caped Crusaders to hurt him with physical blows. Much like his intellect, the level of how reptilian he is varies; recent incarnations of Croc often portray him with a long, muscular tail and razor-sharp teeth that can easily bite through bone. Like actual crocodiles, he is also often portrayed as a strong swimmer, and often hides out in the sewers, where he can make a quick getaway if needed. Despite the profits and fear that it has earned him, Croc often states that he loathes his monstrous appearance, and has attempted to cure himself on several occasions. On one such occasion, he was injected with a virus that made him become even more crocodilian in appearance and animalistic in behavior, and was forced to take a young debutane hostage in order to collect money for it to be cured. Unbeknownst to him, the ploy was engineered by The Riddler and Hush as part of their "war" on Batman.

Killer Croc still manages to escape his incarceration at Arkham and plots his revenge against the Dark Knight; but he loses round, two as well. Eventually Croc mutates to such a degree that he begins to look like a humanoid crocodile; but even with his enhacned powers, he is still defeated by the Bat. Croc still roams Gotham city to this day.

But on the way out, his anger got the better of him and he stuffed the teacher who fired the gun, Professer Jonathan Crane, into the garbage can. Two years later, Killer Croc was relaxing in a nearby swamp when Crane, now the supervillian The Scarecrow, attacked him. Crane had decided to get revenge, and brought a garbage can along for Croc to get a taste of his own medicine. In the end, The Scarecrow stuffed Killer Croc in the trash can, but he broke out of it and slammed it down over Scarecrow's head. This landed him a stint in Arkham Asylum, where the newest director applauded him for beating down the helpless Scarecrow, since he, too, had gotten rid of the chowderheads in his life by dumping them into trash cans (Such as the latest ex-director of Arkham). Unfortunately, Croc lacked taste for Arkham's dark and dank interior, and broke out, having beat up a security guard until he agreed to help him escape. (Which was a little unnecessary, given that the asylum doors were open the entire time). Croc wandered the streets of Gotham City before targeting and attacking the urban terrorist Bateman out of frustration. The two fought atop a bakery where Dan "The Cookie" Monster worked, destroying it in the process.
