Existe una profecía sobre un poderoso y mítico shokan llamado Drathon, quien erradicará a los centauros de Outworld. Durante mucho tiempo los shokanes tuvieron el favoritismo de Shao Kahn, hasta la derrota de Goro y Kintaro en Mortal Kombat, y eventualmente fueron reemplazados por la raza de centauros de Motaro. Esta situación de desprestigio hacia los de su clase motivó un fallido intento de asesinato contra el Emperador por Sheeva.
