| abstract | - The Gemstone Family is a royal family that rules over the Zokubutsu Kingdom, located in New World. Originally a regular family, Heddo, the current head of the Gemstone Family, gained a vast amount of wealth by illegal means, only known to his family members, and bought the almost ruined island of Rakka, which he later renamed Zokubutsu. Due to their status as a royal family, they have complete control over the island in which they live in, and have a great influence within the World Government. Even if their actions are donned illegal, they are able to bypass these accusations simply by bribing officials, making the incident disappear. These actions, however, do not stop there, as there have been instances in which they would hire Pirate crews to raid islands that are near destruction and massacre the people there unless they promised to swear their loyalty to the Gemstone Family. Occasionally, they participate in Slave trades and Slave Auction houses for pure amusement. This, however, is only one instance in which they use their slaves. Weekly, the Gemstone Family holds a tournament that allows for the residents of Zokubutsu to pit a slave they own against the slaves of other households in the arena. The winning slave wins nothing, but the family that entered the slave into the tournament wins File:Bsymbol.gif100,000,000. Their actions are similar to that of World Nobles, without the ability to do virtually anything they want, such as calling an Admiral to deal with their problems. Despite the impossibility of it happening, Heddo wishes for the family to become World Nobles, so that he could do as he pleases without any interference from outside forces. They hold close ties with the Gambling Pirates, being the crew's provider the majority of the time, as long as they do as they're told. Also, despite only calling upon them once, the Elegant Pirates look up to the family, aspiring to be as sophisticated and refined as them. They are the Main Antagonists of the Zokubutsu Arc.
