  • Affirmative action means efforts using the law to provide opportunities in Education and Employment to minorities that would otherwise be passed over for those opportunities due to racism or other unfair attitudes. Critics say it gives a boost to individuals who would not otherwise qualify for those types of opportunities. That's mostly the point, to give people opportunities for social and economic mobility they would not otherwise have access to.
  • Affirmative Action 1. (scientific principle) one of Newton's Laws of motion that allows a feather to keep up with a bowling ball when they are both dropped simultaneously in a vacuum. The bowling ball should have won. 2. (legal term) the system of promoting minorities in the work place, schools and other institutions which is meaningless in a prefect where we all would be like Dr. Colbert who has attained the level of consciousness where he does not see race.
  • Affirmative Action, commonly and wrongly known as positive discrimination in the UK, is the term used to describe a woman, black, gay or anyone else who has previously been oppressed by the Whites, being favored over white people at things like job opportunities, and other things of that nature. It isn't all that powerful, many universities are <5% African American including the high-scoring African immigrants. That doesn't stop the conservatives from complaining about it.

Conservatives often accuse liberals of affirmative action, when in fact, REAL liberals try to treat everyone as equally as possible. Andrew Schlafly's website - Conservapedia - goes as far to suggest that American President elect Barack Obama is not the first elected African American President, but rather the first Affirmative Action President. Affirmative action doesn't affect how people vote. Perhaps in future vile conservatives will suggest that anyone from any minority who is elected to high office or succeeds in a responsible position is there through affirmativer action and shouldn't be there. We exaggerate just a little sometimes. However, it is a scientific fact that Conservapedia is run by literally the most pathetic, anally retentive, nit-picking, denying, hypocritical, untruthful, mindless opportunistic people in existence, so hopefully no one will take what they say seriously.
