  • Outpost 40 was a Federation facility established in the Briar Patch in orbit of the Ba'ku colony world in late 2375. Outpost 40 was constructed to protect the planet from the Son'a and prevent anymore attempts for them to gain access to the planet's metaphasic energy rings. (TNG video game: Hidden Evil) A year later, Ensign Sovok was stationed at the outpost during a time when the USS Enterprise-E was scheduled for routine maintenance. The Ensign was tasked with transporting Captain Jean-Luc Picard to the Ba'ku homeworld in order to take part in an archeaological dig that had uncovered the remains of an ancient civilization on the planet. When rogue Son'a took over the planet, Lieutenant Commander Data used a shuttle to return to Outpost 40 in order to warn Starfleet of the threat posed by the Romulans who had revived the deadly Xenophore Seed. (TNG video game: Hidden Evil) In 2376, Outpost 40 was to be the location for negotations between Ambassador Worf and representatives from the Son'a. However, the talks never occured and instead a large Son'a task force began to attack the station. Thankfully, Ambassador Worf and the USS Avenger managed to repel the invasion force. (TNG video game: Armada) Note: In Armada, Outpost 40 was called Starbase 40, but the Outpost named was confirmed in Hidden Evil. Plus, Starbase 40 was also allocated to another base.
