abstract
  • Yoshiomi "Yoshi" Nakamura was a male Human in the 21st century. He was an agronomist, and in the 2040s lived and worked on the Agro III agronomy station in the South Pacific Ocean along with his lover, Tatya Bilash. In 2045, Bilash and Nakamura recovered two Vulcans from their starship after it had crashed into the ocean near their station. The two attempted to protect the aliens, even after the military took charge of them, insisting on being part in the classified investigation that followed. The aliens were eventually liberated by a group of temporally displaced Starfleet officers, lead by Captain James T. Kirk. Nakamura had all memories of the Vulcans and their rescuers by Dr. Elizabeth Dehner. However, Nakamura was careful to preserve a formula written by one of the Vulcans, Sorahl, to combat kelpwilt, a fungal infection which had devastated Argo III's kelp crops. Shortly after, he and Bilash had a child, though their relationship started to deteriorate around the same time. Nakamura took primary custody of their child while Bilash dedicated her energies to Welcome, a group dedicated to preparing humanity to accept extraterrestrial visitors. In 2073, Nakamura traveled to Vulcan with a group of scientists and agricultural experts, and never returned to Earth. He became a teacher in ShiKahr, and applied for Vulcan citizenship. He disappeared from the historical record thereafter, leading historian Garamet Jen-Saunor to speculate he had become dVel'nahr ("Vulcan by choice"). (TOS novel: Strangers from the Sky)
