  • Silicon Knights® operates as a guild, an organization of individuals working together toward common goals. Guilds share internal resources collectively but also guard inside knowledge against the outside world. "What they used to do in guilds was teach about things that nobody else knew how to create. And they also did things differently than anybody else out there. It was a very open environment with knowledge inside the guild, but that knowledge could never be let outside." -Denis Dyack, President of Silicon Knights®

By combining these elements we hope to create something that is greater than the sum of its parts. We call this engagement theory.

Silicon Knights developed the Nintendo GameCube remake of Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, which was released in 2004 in Japan, North America, and Europe. One of their games, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, is referred a few times in The Twin Snakes, including some of the "sanity effects" that Psycho Mantis uses. On May 30, 2012, Silicon Knights lost a lawsuit against Epic Games concerning the use of Epic's Unreal Engine 3. As a result, Silicon Knights was forced to pay Epic more than $9 million dollars, recall and destroy all copies of Too Human and X-Men: Destiny, and destroy the code for three previously unannounced titles (The Box/Ritualyst, The Sandman, and Siren in the Maelstrom). On May 9, 2013, Silicon Knights closed its office and sold off its office equipment and game assets. On January 10, 2014, Silicon Knights lost their appeal of the lawsuit. Silicon Knights filed for bankruptcy on May 16, 2014.
