  • John Utsman (December 7, 1939 - ) is a former NASCAR driver from Bluff City, TN. He competed in fourteen Sprint Cup Series events in his career, spanning from 1973 to 1980. Utsman drove mainly for G.C. Spencer and earned a best series finish of 10th at Bristol in 1973. His best NASCAR finish, however, came in one of his seven Busch Series (now Nationwide Series) starts. He was 8th at Caraway in 1982. He was also known to be an ace relief driver, especially at Bristol Motor Speedway. Eleven times he was called into action to sub for ailing drivers. Most famously he drove the middle laps of the 1973 Volunteer 500 at Bristol for eventual winner Benny Parsons.
