The Guardians denied the request, remarking that the Green Lantern Corps. was a military organisation dedicated to the protection of the universe, and would not augment to accommodate the whims of individuals, implying that it may hinder the Corps.' daily operations. At that moment, Oa's defensive systems activate, indicating an object of some sort is approaching at high speeds. The Guardians indicate a screen, displaying Dr. Ivo's android, Amazo, traveling in a blaze of gold towards Oa. Rayner and a number of other Lanterns form a large barrier of willpower in the Androids path, though he easily flies straight through it, and smashes into Oa, disintegrating it in the process as the video feed is cut of too Earth. Rayner, along with the other Lanterns who had made the barrier to stop the android, arrive at the scene of the androids decimation of the League's space forces and use their rings to take the broken ships and defeated members to earth. Rayner explains to Stewart that they survived the destruction of Oa by not being on the planet at the time, and that they plan on using the remaining charge int heir rings to unleash a colossal attack on the android, who had by this point broken his way through the League's forces and made it to Luthor. Stewart tells Rayner that a blast like that would destroy half of the Earth, to which Rayner grimly replies "Better half a planet than no planet". Just as Luthor convinced the android to seek out its own purpose rather than find out why Luthor does what he does, the Lanterns surround the android and aim their rings, only to be stopped by Dr. Fate. Rayner and the others are only stopped however, when the android assures them that he did not destroy Oa, merely he removed it to another dimension because it was in his way, and promptly puts it back with a flash of his eyes.
