Synopsis
  • The Spider breaks up gang of crooks robbing sailors, and kills the criminals with a web that tightens and strangles them.
  • Black Shark collaborates with Nazi forces to capture the Red Torpedo. But then, after pinning the Shark's sub; the Red Torpedo makes use of the black sub's ability to release a screen of oil. They use this to surround Nazi submarines that are about to attack the British.
  • Framed for a series of ten murders , with a $50,000 price on his head, the Clock actually kills himself, in order to have a near-death experience and communicate with one of the victims , in order to learn the identity of the killer . He directs Pug to electrocute him with DC power, wait two minutes, then revive him with AC. This works, and the Clock arranges for the police to be present when he confronts Bison, who ends up arrested.
  • The Jester is on a crime spree, but someone else is also impersonating him, and wants to pin a kidnapping and a "secret formula" robbery on him too. Madam Fatal becomes involved when he is caught snooping around the kidnapper's hideout. Suddenly, the real Jester shows up for the rescue, and to clear his name from the kidnapping . Madam Fatal and the Jester take on the thugs and when the dust settles, he lets the Jester go, even though he is wanted by the police for his earlier crimes. The kidnapped professor never realizes that it was his own son who rescued him.
  • The Black Condor tracks down female villainess the Sophisticated Lady at a club. The Lady takes notice of the Condor in his disguise as Blackie Wing. She then recruits him for her gang. Condor is sent to steal a sapphire necklace, but before the robbery he ensures the necklace will be safe. Then he pretends to steal the jewels with the Lady's partner Nickolas Gido. After discovering who the crooks are using as a fence, the Condor reveals himself. Police raid the hide-out, and the crooks are arrested.
Notes
  • * Quality Comics, Jester (Robert Mason) and Jester (Charles Lane), are two different characters. * The Clock's long-time habit of leaving calling cards and witty notes at crime scenes and on arrested suspects has backfired on him thrice before Feature Funnies #11, Aug 1938 and #15, Dec 1938, and Feature Comics #26, Nov 1939, and now does so again as a fourth copycat has some fake "Clock" calling cards printed up. At least this one went to the trouble of renting a tuxedo and making a facemask. * Also appearing in this issue of Crack Comics were: ** Space Legion: "Draco's Mechanical Invasion Fleet", by Vernon Henkel ** Wizard Wells: "Super Power Slip-Up", by Harry Francis Campbell & Henry Weston Taylor ** Jane Arden: , by Monte Barrett & Russell E. Ross ** Ned Brant: , by Bob Zuppke & B.W. DePew
quotation
  • I know you're wanted by the police, Jester, but you've just saved a grand old man and a piece of paper worth plenty to our country!
