Prior to his joining the Collective Vices Faction he was a graduate from the Shinō Academy, however after losing the woman he had loved he had gone rogue killing almost everyone at the Academy at that time. Before he could get sentenced he was rescued by Sabishii at the same time of his escape after murdering 12th Division Captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi.
