He was first discovered and secretly trained by Darth Sidious with the purpose of eliminating any of his master's enemies. Skroob participated in the Clone Wars as governor of Coruscant. While there, he secretly monitored both Panakin Crybaby and Anakin Skywalker and constantly reported their actions to Palpatine. Skroob later seduced Panakin Crybaby to the dark side, while Palpatine did the same with Anakin Skywalker. Crybaby became Dark Helmet as a Sith Lord as Skywalker became Darth Vader. After the Republic was reorganized into the Galactic Empire, Skroob was named president of the planet Spaceball, his homeworld. At some point, the planet ran out of oxygen, leaving the Spaceballs with the canned Perri-Air. Desperate to find more, Skroob schemed to extract the air from the planet Druidia. Dark Helmet was sent out to kidnap Princess Vespa. Skroob's reign of terror ended with the destruction of the Spaceball One ship, which he was aboard at the time, at the hands of Captain Lone Starr. The resulting explosion caused Skroob and his minions to crash land on the Planet of the Apes.
