abstract
  • Cryptos is an enemy in Final Fantasy XIII. It fights alongside with Ambling Bellows in Mission 22. Ambling Bellows can call Cryptos by using Deployment. Cryptos can bestow Bravery and Haste on itself by using System Upgrade. The party should aim to try and destroy the Ambling Bellow as fast as possible to stop it from deploying more Cryptos. Thundaga and Waterga are effective spells against multiple Cryptos, as they can halt their current action and they are weak against Lightning and Water. A Saboteur or two can be useful as Cryptos is vulnerable to most statuses and the Saboteur's Dispel can null their buffs.
  • Cryptos was a redpill who was once a friend of Morpheus and a fervent anti-Machinist. However, it appeared that Cryptos was the founder and an improtant leader of the Cypherites. In reality he was overwritten (and controlled) by the Machines in order to counter the Zion faction.
  • The strange and sinister xenos race known to the Inquisition as the Cryptos comes from the cold darkness of the interstellar void where it can scarcely be conceived that anything could live. Without solid physical form, they appear as strange gaseous clouds tinted with an eerie greenish glow and filled with maddening, half-formed shapes. They are able to pass through solid matter and even through the hulls of star vessels, and far more dangerously, they have the power to take living human bodies as hosts in order to fulfil their inscrutable aims. They are a cold and mysterious race whose desires and thoughts remain hidden from others and possess an implacable and patient intelligence. Masked in human flesh, they walk amongst mankind and secretly infest communities, twisting them until they are completely under their dominion. They treat humans with utter disdain and a callous disregard, for these seemly immortal creatures carry themselves as fallen gods fleeing something greater and more terrible yet, and mankind is to them no more than cattle to be used and disposed of at will. The Cryptos are a rare and utterly insidious threat, and though no cities have burned in their name nor have they raised armies against the dominion of the God-Emperor, they are the manifestation of why the alien is loathed and mistrusted in all of its forms.
  • Cryptos was a Zionite captain during the war against the Machines. He was one of the few captains who were in Zion when the other hovercrafts were destroyed by Smith. He was seen by his peers as an extremist, believed to have once requested the use of virtual nukes to destroy the Matrix (which would in turn kill all the bluepills). After the war, Cryptos disappeared; it is believed this is when he turned into a Cypherite. No one knows if he left on his own accord or was taken by force, but we do know that he had turned from a Redpill activist to a Cypherite or Bluepill wanna-be. Cryptos is believed to be the leader of the Cypherites although no one knew about him until after Veil was released from her prison and rejoined the Cypherites. More recently in The Matrix Online, Cryptos was attacked by Seraph for reasons currently unknown. This attack left Cryptos blinded, and revealed that Cryptos was under the control of the Machines. This revalation has created a rather tense situation between Zion and the Machines, as this revelation is viewed as a direct violation of the truce formed by Neo. Cryptos' name is probably based on the prefix "crypto-" which means "secret or hidden"
