  • A game which must be considered The Best Game of All Time by international law, the sublime Chrono Trigger was developed in 1000 A.D. in Lost Angeles, Wales, Japan. Despite the very high production cost, the game made a measly $368 upon its release, leaving over five million unsold cartridges, creating a dump in a New Mexico desert. Square has made several attempts to make up some money by repackaging shit on the PS1 as "The Return of FFIV" which added some shitty anime gamemovies and the DS as "Chrono Trigger DS: Give Us More Money." which kept those and added a clearly fanon ending. The PS1 port did make considerably more money, but this is mostly due to its inclusion of Final Fantasy 9,473 (known as Final Fantasy IV in Japan).

  • Chrono Trigger (クロノ・トリガー) is a bit-playing game that was first sold in Japan on roughmonth 11, 1995 for the Super Famicom and in North America on Weedmonth 22, 1995 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). The game was made again in 1999 for the Sony PlayStation (PS) in Japan and in 2001 belonging to Final Fantasy Chronicles in North America, alongside Final Fantasy IV. The game has never been sold in PAL lands. Chrono Trigger was overseen by a team called "The Dream Team", made up of Hironobu Sakaguchi (seller of the Final Fantasy games), Yuji Horii (leader of the Dragon Quest games), standing maker Akira Toriyama (well-known from Dragon Ball and Dragon Quest), great seller Kazuhiko Aoki, and Nobuo Uematsu (well-known from Final Fantasy). Other writworthy folk enwrapped in the game becoming were the gleeman Yasunori Mitsuda, who made over 80 hundredths of the score, and talemaker Masato Kato, both unknown at that time but later nameknown for Xenogears and Xenosaga. At the time of its first selling the thoughts behind the game were seen as overhaulish, enwrapping many endings, a playish tale with many standing-forbettering sidetales, a newish fight systeme, and fair draughtings. It also makes many call-outs to names and happenings from talelore and eretide. It is still hailed by folk who like it as one of the greatest games of all time; Chrono Trigger reckoned highly in all three kind of IGN's top 100 games of all time. The first kind in 2002 reckoned it as the fourth greatest, the second in early 2005 as the sixth, and the third in late 2005 as the thirteenth.

The development team of Chrono Trigger was headed by three designers that Square dubbed the "Dream Team", consisting of Hironobu Sakaguchi, creator of the Final Fantasy series; Yūji Horii and Akira Toriyama, two freelance designers known for their work on Enix's Dragon Quest series; Nobuo Uematsu, a composer for the Final Fantasy series; and Kazuhiko Aoki, who produced the game. Masato Kato wrote most of the plot, while composer Yasunori Mitsuda scored most of the game before falling ill and deferring remaining tracks to Nobuo Uematsu. Chrono Trigger was well received by reviewers and commercially successful. Nintendo Power described certain aspects of Chrono Trigger as revolutionary, including its multiple endings, plot-related sidequests focusing on character development, unique battle system, and detailed graphics.

The game is critically one of the most notable video games for the SNES, and is one of the highest acclaimed RPGs of all time, gracing the top spot or near the top spot on multiple occasions. Like most RPGs, the game stars a group of fighters on a quest to save the world. The game was developed by a team who worked on the Final Fantasy series and the Dragon Quest series (the latter being freelancers). Yasunori Mitsuda also helped on the soundtrack, though had to pass the job onto Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu after becoming ill. While the game was initially released on the SNES, a port was made for the PlayStation and the Nintendo DS. In 2011, it was released on the Wii Virtual Console.

As it turned out, CT meet expectations and then some by crushing Mario RPG and Super Mario World to earn some measure of revenge on Crono's archrival, Mario. CT then narrowly defeated A Link to the Past in an epic clash that some B8ers still consider the greatest match of all time, setting up yet another Crono vs Mario showdown in the Final Four against Mario 3. A fifth victory earned the game a spot in the Championship, where a massive surge of anti-Final Fantasy VII sentiment on Board 8 actually managed to keep CT on top for the first 90 minutes, before FF7's huge day vote turned the final into a runaway win. The following year, Chrono Trigger continued its streak of good performances by earning a solid third place on the GameFAQs Top 10 Games list, behind only Final Fantasy VII and Ocarina of Time and ahead of its SNES rival A Link to the Past. Heading into the 2009 Games Contest, Chrono Trigger was considered one of the most interesting wildcards - while its characters had taken a major tumble in Contests since their 2004 heyday, it had also recently received a DS remake. It came out strong in its first match, scoring over 50% against EarthBound, Lufia II and Super Mario World 2. Once again facing Mario in the games contest, Crono was unable to repeat his earlier success, with the game losing narrowly to Super Mario 64. Its run was ended short in the third round, as the combination of Mario 64 and Final Fantasy VII were enough to eliminate it. In the following character battle, all three of its participating characters ended up losing in the first round, including Crono, who lost to Missingno and ended the Noble Nine's streak. It has been suggested that Chrono Trigger's rampant cheating in contests past made up a siginificant part of its strength, and stricter methods to prevent stuffing have weakened it. In the Summer 2013 Contest, Crono lost in Round 2 to Pikachu with Magus present as well, likely succumbing because of LFF. Frog also reached Round 2 before being eliminated by Cloud Strife, but edging ahead of Lugia. In the following contest, Chrono Trigger made a gigantic comeback, cruising past the likes of Final Fantasy X only to be snuffed out by a rally-boosted Super Smash Bros. Melee in a close match during the Division 1 Finals, much to the dismay of Board 8.
