  • Ring of Poison - borrowing it's name from the Jakks Pacific WWE play set - debuted in late 2004 as a text fed on the WrestlingFigs.com forum. After a few months, it launched as a pic fed carrying on the same storylines and characters and it's first PPV, titled What The Funk?, went online in September 2005. In the early years, ROP was characterised by its similarity to ECW, using a mix of characters from 90s ECW, current WWE and the independent scene. Some of the wrestlers who made early pic appearances in ROP include CM Punk, Jimmy Jacobs, "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels and more. Names such as Raven, Terry Funk and The Sandman were ROP's biggest stars in its early incarnation. ROP is perhaps best known for its inter-promotional feud with Half Life Wrestling throughout 2006. The feud culminated in the November 2006 inVasion joint-promoted show, featuring an ROP vs HLW Elimination Chamber match in the main event won by ROP icon Raven. Following the Eddie Guerrero Memorial Cup tournament in 2007, ROP became inactive and did not post another show until 2009, with the aptly-named Don't Call It A Comeback. The relaunch marked a shift in ROP, from being inspired by classic ECW to a feel more reminiscent of popular independent promotions such as CHIKARA and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. CM Punk won the ROP Heavyweight Championship and would go on to hold the title for almost two years. The relaunched ROP was notable for long title reigns, another marked shift from the many title changes seen in the promotion's first run. As well as Punk's two-year title reign, Hallowicked also held the Cruiserweight Championship for nearly two years. ROP uploaded its final show in November 2011, titled Teeth Like God's Shoeshine. Following this, the promotion remained inactive until mid-2014 when a "press conference" was uploaded, announcing the end of Ring of Poison and the launch of its successor, CHIMU Pro.
