Since then, David has appeared in over 100 films and TV shows, most notably a guest role in Fawlty Towers and the role of Grandpa Joe in Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. David was married to actress Laurie Morton. Together they had 2 children. David died of pneumonia in 2012 aged 82.
