  • The Pit was an underwater jail used by the Order of Mata Nui to imprison those who were considered unredeemable. The Pit had a jailer (Hydraxon) and two Pit Guards (Maxilos and Spinax). The being who brought the prisoners there was the Order member, Botar. However, the jailer was killed by the Barraki Takadox during the Great Cataclysm and Maxilos was possessed by Teridax 100,000 years later. The Ignika eventually recreated the Matoran Dekar as a new Hydraxon with no memory of dying, yet with visions of his Matoran life.

This is in the form of tanks containing oxygen, which is inhaled through the nostrils. It contains a back room for illicit dealings. The Screaming Skulls were popular and well known in the bar in 2494.

  • By completing a lap on an agility course, players may attract the attention of a Talent scout. It does not matter if obstacles are failed (like the Death Slide in the Werewolf Agility Course); there is always a chance to be attracted after completing a full lap. If a greenish arrow is flashing above the Scout's head, talk to him to be offered the chance to go to The Pit. There will also be a coloured infobox message when he is interested. If he is not spoken to within a minute or so, he will lose interest, and the opportunity will be missed. The attention of the talent scout can only be obtained once per hour.
  • Encompassed by vegetation and mountains is an area (analogous to a desert) referred to by the Xenexians as the Pit where the Search for Allways was preformed. The Pit is a desolate and inhospitable land approximately 30 miles wide. Xenexians, particularly those from the city of Calhoun, avoided the Pit not only because it is physically challenging, but also because some claimed that a sort of nexus with multiple realities drifted in and out of the Pit. Those who did not believe that a nexus could be found in the Pit nevertheless believed it was simply haunted. Either way, modern Xenexians avoided the Pit.
  • The Pit (of Ghalon Mahri) was an incredibly ancient undersea prison constructed in 1,000,000 BBY . It is thought to have been created by the Celestials, or by Botar . The Pit has been invariably described as one of the most perfect prisons in galactic history. It was situated on the sea floor of the ocean planet Ghalon Mahri, over 80 km (50 miles) beneath the surface waters. The water at this depth was under extraordinarily high pressure. Due to the high uranium and thorium levels in the planet's crust, the water was also highly mutagenic to almost any lifeform.
  • The Pit is a dungeon in the Tamoe Highlands. There is no waypoint for this place, so the easiest way to get there is to take the Outer Cloister waypoint and make your way from there to the Highlands. The Pit consists of two levels - Level 1, and Level 2. On level 2 of The Pit there is a golden chest (drops many items). The Pit has become a very popular location for Magic Finding since the release of 1.10, because it is one of the few locations that have the highest area level in the game (85 in Hell). It is a highly popular level 85 area, as it is relatively accessible from a nearby waypoint (Outer Cloister or Black Marsh being the closest), and is relatively safe--allowing players to sacrifice killing power and survivability for the sake of donning more magic find gear.
  • The Pit is a prison located in the ancient part of the world, which had established such a fearsome reputation that it became referred to as "the worst Hell on Earth". The Pit also featured a well-like structure which the prisoners were free to climb in order to attempt their escape. Nearly everyone who tried the climb failed due to the gap between two ledges being too far to jump. The legend of the only person to ever escape (young Talia al Ghul) inspired Bruce Wayne to believe that escape was possible. Escape can only be done by using adrenaline to boost the human body's capabilities well beyond the normal capabilities of a human. In both cases of Talia and Bruce making the jump, they did it without the rope, causing the fear of dying to give them the adrenaline they needed to make the j

  • As I stood there astonished at the size of the pit..I looked down and saw what appeared to be a primitive and rough form of a ladder carved into the edge of the pit’s wall, maybe it was an act of stupidity, maybe it was the adrenaline, either way, I began to slowly go down it. I must have been going down this ‘ladder’ for 3 hours when I realized that this act of stupidity may result into my impending doom. As I continued to scale down I realized something... the echo of that stone hitting the ground still hasn’t come yet... The walls of the pit at this elevation where mossy and a damp coldness fell upon me, It must have been hours since I began to scale down the pit... still no thud... The walls at that point in time were so damp i nearly fell off the ladder, and the stench of death and decay became a much more repulsive aroma... something which for the life of me, and for the life of others I'll believe no one can describe. I began scaling down this wall 20 days ago... the rations which I kept in my backpack are now gone... and my lamp is no longer helping me as I ran out of gas. I am writing this as I am scaling the pits wall... I can no longer take this pit any longer... hallucinations of beasts are beginning to take control of my vision... and any source of communication with my fellow archaeologists who are a kilometer away from the surface of the pit is now impossible... if you are reading this... then you have found my dead body in the pit... my grip is slipping from the ladder, the beasts on the hieroglyphs... they are coming!

There will also be a coloured chatbox message when he is interested. If he is not spoken to within a minute or so, he will lose interest, and the opportunity will be missed. The attention of the talent scout can only be obtained once per hour. Players with 99 Agility can speak to the Talent scout while wearing an Agility cape, Max cape or Completionist cape for free shots at the events. After completing an event, a small amount of experience will be received, but the experience cannot be gambled. The gorilla mask can be attained by talking to the Talent scout after removing the Agility cape. Once at the pit, players will be set one of the challenges to complete, chosen at random. Completion of the task will give the player a large amount of experience, the chance to gamble it all, and a Gorilla mask. Failure will result in the player being granted experience similar to completion of a lap of the course they were previously on. Note: The time a player has to complete each event is limited. As such, it may not be beneficial to skip the dialogue at the beginning by clicking on the minimap; the event for an entry will be unknown till it starts then. The timer starts upon swinging into the centre of the area. If the player logs out and back in during the event, they are removed from The Pit without a reward. Talent Scouts appear at the following Agility courses: * Gnome Stronghold agility course (basic and advanced) * Agility Pyramid * Barbarian Outpost (basic and advanced) * Ape Atoll Agility Course * Wilderness Agility Course * Werewolf Agility Course * Dorgesh-Kaan agility course * Hefin Agility Course

The prison population was generally placid, at least in comparison to the Skullcup camp, although murders committed by inmates were not unknown. The prisoners had formed a council and selected an unofficial mayor as their voice with the guards and warden. The council also made sure that food was distributed evenly and the sick were cared for.

The timer starts upon swinging into the center of the area.

Being sentenced to The Pit was the worst sentence that could be handed out by the Celestial Imperial Court or later by the Hand of Atharka , considered by most to be far worse than the death penalty. Those sent to The Pit would remain there for eternity in semi-suspense. The massive pressures and mutagens in the water would prolong their lifespans to thousands, if not millions of years. All the while the victim would mutate in the water, their body becoming more and more distorted. Eventually, they would decay into polyps, coral and protodites. Upon being sentenced to The Pit, a prisoner would be picked up by Botar, who would use his own unique ability to teleport them across the galaxy to the planet Ghalon Mahri and into the pit. There they would remain until their body decayed or they were set free (which was almost never the case). The Pit, and some of those imprisoned in it, outlived the Celestials by a long way, surviving into the clone wars and the imperial era. In 20 ABY , a massive asteroid struck Ghalon Mahri, shattering the walls of The Pit, and freeing those souls still inside.
Historically, the Pit was once the place of a ritual called the Search for Allways where its youth would wander in the Pit as a sort of ceremonial initiation from adolescence to adulthood. The premise of this ritual was that if they remained long enough in the Pit they would receive visions of their future – through the nexus – that as a result would steer them toward their purpose in life. Modern Xenexians do not observe the Search for Allways tradition because it was the cause of a significant death toll on their youth. Instead, the Search for Allways has become a sort of a dare, or a test of bravery. Mackenzie Calhoun, who had preformed the Search for Always, lied, claiming that he received a vision where his people would be free from Danterian rule, and in telling this vision with such conviction, he became a leader in the uprising that eventually did free them from Danterian rule. His deceptive vision that he told came true, and ironically it was a stepping stone that led him to a true vision where he saw a captain of the Starship, Jean-Luc Picard. His meeting with Captain Picard soon after would propel him toward his purpose in life, a life in the Federation as a Captain himself. (NF novel: House of Cards)
