  • The Constitution docked for maintenance at an Earth orbiting drydock in the 2220s, and as a special favor to a noted scientist, the science officer (unnamed Starfleet personnel) of the vessel allowed Doctor William Sterling and his wife (unnamed Humans) to visit the ship. The couple's son, Lee Sterling, was too young to participate in the tour. The Constitution was a notable arrival in the Sol star system again in the 2230s, when 13-year-old Lee Sterling used a telescope to show the vessel's orbital drydock to a friend, Casey O'Connor. The pair made out the dock clearly, but were unable to really see the Constitution herself. (FASA RPG module: Cadet's Orientation Sourcebook) While many early 23rd century references to ships name "Constitution" refer to the prototype of the Constitution-class, this reference in the 2230s decade is too early to have been that same vessel. The story of Lee Sterling itself holds up this date reference in noting that, upon Lee's Starfleet Academy graduation a decade later, the USS Enterprise was "newly-commissioned".
