  • Leslie is a non-playable character in SaGa Frontier 2. She is the childhood friend, and possible romantic curiosity, of Gustave XIII. Leslie first met Gustave when he moved to Gruegel with his mother Sophie. Years later the two are reunited at a garden party held by Sir Thomas, the Count of Jade, who has been Leslie's teacher in aristocratic manners and etiquette. Despite Gustave's fall from grace, Leslie still finds him interesting and enigmatic, which often puzzled the young Gustave. Leslie remained with Gustave well into his years, following his successful campaign to reclaim his kingdom. It is not really known whether or not the two of them ever fell in love as time went on, as Leslie is not seen in any further story development scenes. It is mentioned in the SaGa Frontier 2 Perfect Works guide that Leslie moved back to Gruegel to live the remainder of her days after Gustave's death, along with theories that they may have produced children together.

She and Stan took a fateful vacation to Isla Bonale, and were the only two people to avoid the deadly effects of the G-virus because they were out snorkelling when the Umbrella plane carrying it crashed on the island. Although she survived an attack by the zombified Ace, a giant, mutant eel, man-eating plants and giant lizards, not to mention the crashed plane's additional cargo of Lickers, in order to reach the resort's radio station, it was all in vain. Both she and Stan were shot and killed by William Birkin when an Umbrella containment squad arrived.

(TOS: "Where No Man Has Gone Before" , "Charlie X" , "The Trouble with Tribbles" ; DS9: "Trials and Tribble-ations") The lieutenant once risked facing a charge of mutiny on stardate 3417.3. He abandoned his post after becoming temporarily infected by the Omicron spores and lined up near the transporter room to join the colonists of Omicron Ceti III. When Kirk told him to return to his station, Leslie disobeyed the captain's order. (TOS: "This Side of Paradise" ) On stardate 3619.2, Leslie was violently attacked by a dikironium cloud creature during a planetary survey of Argus X. With all the red blood corpuscles drained from his body, Doctor Leonard McCoy declared him deceased in an autopsy report. Leslie was later revived and returned to duty by stardate 3620.7, and continued to serve aboard the Enterprise until stardate 5630.7. (TOS: "Obsession" , "Is There in Truth No Beauty?" )
  • Kramer was dating Leslie, a clothing designer. Jerry and Elaine were invited to dinner by Kramer, but Jerry complained that Leslie was a "low talker", meaning that no matter how hard he tried to listen to her, she was never loud enough to be heard. At the dinner, when Kramer excused himself for the restroom, Jerry accidentally agreed to wear Leslie's latest design on his upcoming appearance on The Today Show: a pirate-inspired puffy shirt. He tried to back out, but Leslie had already sold some retailers the shirts under the condition that Jerry would wear it on TV. At the taping of The Today Show Jerry broke down in front of Bryant Gumbel while wearing the shirt and told him that he hated the shirt and was only doing it because he made an accidental promise. Leslie then screamed, extremely loudly, "You bastard!" Back in his dressing room, Kramer was consoling Leslie, but when a happy George entered and started making fun of the shirt, Leslie snapped and pushed him into an iron, burning his perfect hands. ("The Puffy Shirt") Leslie makes a brief appearance in “The Finale, Part 2”, and takes the stand to testify against the "New York Four". When talking about how Jerry badmouthed her shirt on The Today Show, Jackie Chiles objected because nobody can hear her (which included District Attorney Hoyt and Judge Arthur Vandelay). Jackie tells Judge Vandelay to either get Leslie a microphone or they should move on with the trial. A deleted scene had District Attorney Hoyt getting close enough to hear that Jerry's negative comment ruined her business prior to Jackie Chiles' objection.

They had a great time playing together (Phoebe said that it was "the most I've had in all my lives"), but Leslie abandoned Phoebe to write television jingles. Phoebe never forgave her, and when Leslie came back into her life, she refused to get back together with her. Eventually, Phoebe realizes that she wants to be Leslie's singing partner again, but this does not last long when Leslie suggests that they sell Smelly Cat as a jingle. Phoebe rejects this idea, claiming she is not in it for the money, telling Leslie that she needs to "get out of that jingle head". Leslie goes behind Phoebe's back and plays Smelly Cat for people at her old ad agency anyway. Phoebe leaves her with an ultimatum: The jingle or her. Leslie picks the former, resulting in another falling out. This one is permanent. Smelly Cat is put on an advertisement for kitty litter, the song being sung in a high-pitched voice. Phoebe wrote a song about the experience. The lyrics go as follows: "Jingle bitch screwed me over. Go to Hell jingle whore. Go to Hell, go to Hell, go to Hell..."

  • A brand name of rotating speaker, named after its inventor, Don Leslie. Leslie speakers are best known for being used with Hammond organs. The basic Hammond tonewheel timbre is rather static, and becomes uninteresting to listen to after a short time. Hammond realized this early on and undertook development efforts that eventually produced the vibrato scanner. However, Leslie came up with the idea of the rotating speaker, based on some work that he had done while working for the U.S. Navy's Naval Research Lab. He tried to sell the idea to Hammond, but they rejected it. So Leslie formed his own company, named Electro Music. The first Leslie speakers went into production in 1941, but production was limited by WWII until 1946. After that, Leslie began supplying models to notable Hammond organ players, and soon public demand built up by word of mouth. Electro Music worked with Hammond dealers to include Leslies with organ sales. Dealers had to be careful because Hammond sold its own speaker cabinets (few of which used any type of rotating speaker), and they regarded Electro Music as competition. Many a Hammond organ was sold with Hammond's least expensive speaker cabinet, which the customer immediately returned in trade for a discreetly delivered Leslie. Don Leslie sold Electro Music to CBS Musical Instruments in 1965. The company expanded their offerings to units meant for other organs, and "combo" units which could be used with other instruments such as a guitar or combo organ. Hammond finally purchased the company from CBS in 1980, and begain offering Leslies bundled with its organs. Today, both the Hammond and Leslie names are owned by Hammond/Suzuki. The canonical Leslie model, the 122, contains a tube amplifier and two speakers, a tweeter and a woofer, both fed from a passive crossover. The speaker elements themselves do not actually rotate. The tweeter is a compression driver that fires into a Y-shaped rotating horn, one side of which is blocked. The woofer fires into the top of a cylinder-shaped wooden rotor which has a window cut in one side. Each of the two rotating elements is driven by a two-speed motor. In Leslie terms, the fast speed is "tremolo" and the slow speed is "chorale"; tremolo is typically around 250 revolutions per minute, and chorale is 30-50 RPM. Either a foot swtich or a "half moon", installed on the front edge of an organ and activated by the knee, is used to change speeds. The rotating elements produce both frequency modulation and amplitude modulation effects as they rotate, due to the Doppler effet and the effect of the rotors alternately pointing towards and away from the listener. The two elements are not synchronized, so the resulting effect is complex. And, because the rotating elements have angular momentum, speed changes are not instantaneous; acceleration and deceleration are gradual, and the heavy bass rotor take more time than the lighter treble horn. Speed changing for the inertia effects is part of the technique of playing an organ with a Leslie. In addition, some performers set up their Hammonds so that at full volume it overdrives the amplifier in the Leslie, producing a variety of distorted growling and sweeping effects. Connecting a Hammond to a Leslie is tricky and can be dangerous. Hammond used a number of multi-pin connector schemes across its organ line, and in some of these line voltage or tube B+ (plate) voltage is carried on the cable between the organ and the speaker. There are Web sites that specialize in matching up Hammond and Leslie models, and specifying the proper cables and adaptors to use.

She was right to worry - once she was out of sight, Leslie hid some teething rings under his coat, while Bryan threw sugar across the floor. Florrie returned and saw what they had been up to. Bryan refused to return the teething rings to a distressed Florrie. At that moment, Harry Hewitt entered the shop and Florrie told him what was going on. Harry threatened to beat them up so they handed back the teething rings while Florrie vowed to send the police after them. Defiant to the last, Bryan told Harry he only backed down as he didn't want to hurt him. They left the shop and Florrie was relieved at Harry's intervention. Two months later in March, Leslie and Bryan visited Snape's Cafe during Doreen Lostock's first night shift in that establishment. This time they were dressed in their full teddy boy regalia. As they entered, Bryan tipped a bowl of sugar into the teacup of an unsuspecting customer. They approached Doreen behind the counter and gave her cheek. Bryan asked if she had anything for a penny to which she retorted "Aye, gents' lavatory, first on the right". Referring to Leslie as "Yogi Bear", Doreen asked if he wanted anything. Leslie replied a jukebox, as thought the place was dead to which Doreen replied that they wouldn't be stopping then. For every cheeky remark they made, Doreen responded with a smart reply until they gave up and left the cafe. Sylvia Snape was highly impressed and grateful to Doreen for dealing with the boys so efficiently. The two characters were credited as "Teddy Boys" on their first appearance when the part of Leslie was played by Dean Stuaat. The part was recast and played by John Patrick Kilby on the second occasion that the character appeared (pictured above). Aside from the part of Emily Nugent being played by an unknown extra in Episode 4 (21st December 1960) and then Eileen Derbyshire from Episode 15 (27th January 1961) onwards, this was the first re-casting in the programme's history.

  • One Mr. Leslie served in the security division but was unfortunately killed by a mysterious white cloud in 2268. Another Mr. Leslie served on the bridge, usually as an engineer, but he also controlled the helm sometimes. Once he mutinied against Captain Kirk while being controlled by alien spores which made Mr. Spock climb a tree and shout "I want a woman!" (Err... no... the latter was in some old Italian flick...). The same Leslie uttered the now legendary words: "We're leaving orbit, sir." after some blonde, Shakespearian actress chick killed her father while performing "Hamlet". Spock always confused this Leslie with Yeoman Janice Rand, probably because they shared the same curvaceous hips (TOS: "Take Over Here, Rand"). The third Leslie was a medical technician. Because he had enough of fellow officers mistaking him with his brothers he changed his name to the much more cooler "Connors". He was a notorious womanizer, mostly specializing in dark-haired babes in green dress. (TOS: "Why Is a Green Shirt Working in Sickbay?"). In 2268 some evil alien Nazis cloned Mr. Leslie and used him as a Wehrmacht soldier. The clone also had a silly-looking mustache. Some fans can assume that actually there were only one "Mr. Leslie" but that wouldn't explain his presence in multiple places at the same time.
