- Helia was the Captain of the Ancient warship Tria, during the last days of their war with the Wraith. After her ship had been damaged in battle, the Tria went to Atlantis to join the evacuation, but was forced to travel back to Earth after learning Atlantis had been evacuated. Because of the damage the ship had received, the hyperdrive failed midway through their voyage to the Milky Way. Unable to return to the Pegasus Galaxy, Helia accelerated the ship using a ZPM tied into the ship's engines, and continued on course for Earth at 0.999 times the speed of light. At this speed, the voyage would take millions of years, though the crew would only have to spend a few years in stasis due to relativity.

She agreed to allow Major General Jack O'Neill and Richard Woolsey to remain as delegates, and to eventually allow the Atlantis expedition to return, once the Lanteans had time to adjust. Six weeks after reclaiming the city, the Asurans sent a warship to attack Atlantis. Helia, still believing them unable to harm them, ordered them to return to Asuras. However, the Asurans had overcome the directive preventing them from harming the Lanteans. They overran the city, killing all of them, including Helia, who attempted to hide the fact that all the Lanteans were kille

However, the Asurans had been able to overcome this directive in their programming, attacked and captured the city, and subsequently killed all the Ancients occupying it.

Er und Flora schicken sich manchmal gegenseitig Nachrichten, wobei Helia auch Gedichte für Flora schreibt. Einmal macht Riven sich deswegen über Helia lustig, aber Helia sagt, so albern Riven das auch finden mag, funktioniert Floras und seine Beziehung sehr gut, während Riven mit seiner unsensiblen Art dabei ist, Musa für immer zu verlieren. Riven kann Helia nicht besonders gut leiden, weil dieser ihm in vieler Hinsicht überlegen ist. Helia hat langes schwarzes Haar, dunkle Augen und trägt nur selten die Uniform der Spezialisten; normalerweise sieht man ihn in einer weißen Hose und einem hellgrünen Hemd. Auch in seiner Kampfweise unterscheidet sich Helia von den anderen Jungs: Statt mit einem Laserschwert oder einer Axt auf seinen Gegner einzuschlagen, begügt er sich meistens damit, seinen Kampfgegner mit Wurfseilen zu fesseln, um ihn kampfunfähig zu machen, wahrscheinlich aus Weigerung, jemanden ernsthaft zu verletzen.
