  • Arrakis was located far from the major populated worlds and their trade routes. It was orbited by two moons: the first and larger of these bore a formation that looked like a human fist; the second had a formation that resembled a kangaroo mouse.
  • It later became the centre of the Imperium under Muad'Dib's empire. Arrakis was the original and for a long time sole source of the spice melange, which is a vital aspect of space travel. It was eventually terraformed into a green, much more habitable, world.
  • Arrakis, also known as "Dune", is the third planet of Canopus. It is the single most important planet in the Known Universe because it is the sole source of the spice melange.
  • Apparantly a big ball of sand, Arrakis has the dubious honor of being featured on a vacation postcard sold by Fester Blatz on Phleebhut. Little is known of this tourist spot but what is written on the back of said postcard. "A great spot for winter travel, Arrakis holds many delights for the adventurous vacationer. Nothing can compare with a blinding dust storm, or being crushed by a sandworm." The planet is famous for the Arakkis Corp which is known for colonizing other planets such as Kerona. The spicy scent of the dunes on Kerona reminds Roger Wilco of a weekend he once spent on Arrakis.
  • Arrakis is the homeworld of the Tok'ra as of the early 2010s, as the discovery of a new queen made it possible for their species to again grow in substantial numbers. With their population rising, the High Council decided that they required a permanent settlement to call their own, and the desert planet was selected for two key reasons; one, it was to that point uninhabited, and two, it reminded the Tok'ra of the barren worlds they had employed as hidden bases under the System Lords. Being the headquarters of its inhabitants' extensive intelligence network and subspace communications grid, it is largely believed that any and all information traded in the galaxy goes through Arrakis at some point. It was famously the site of Baal's execution, and a monument to all Tok'ra who gave their lives in the fight against the Goa'uld stands directly across from the planet's stargate. In addition to its role as the nexus of Tok'ra society, Arrakis acts as a regional capital for the Interstellar Alliance.
