  • Within its boundaries are a number of other facilities including the Nevada Test Site (NTS). Operated by the Department of Energy, the NTS is located approximately 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas with support and administrative headquarters at Mercury, Nev. The installation is operated by the DOE, Nevada Operations Office in North Las Vegas, which is charged with the management of all the nation's nuclear weapon programs. In the past, this included underground test explosions.
  • Caroll Spinney and Oscar the Grouch visited Nellis Air Force Base in June 2011. It was Spinney's first time at the base since he was there as an Airman in 1955. He was followed by crews for the documentary I Am Big Bird: The Caroll Spinney Story.
  • Nellis Air Force Base is a location northeast of New Vegas in the Mojave Wasteland. It is a pre-War air force base that was once the United States Air Force Warfare Center and, after the war, became the home of the Boomers, a xenophobic group who were former occupants of Vault 34.
  • Nellis Air Force Base was an United States Air Force base in the state of Nevada. After learning that Alexis Drazen and two other assassins were in Los Angeles, CTU Los Angeles contacted Senator David Palmer's staff and gave him a threat assessment, telling David that it was too dangerous for him to stay in Los Angeles for the primary. After discussing this with Mike Novick, David informed his wife, Sherry, that they were going to pack up and fly to Nellis for their own safety. However, after meeting with Jack Bauer and learning that the Drazens were targeting both of them, Palmer decided to remain in the city and flush the threat into the open. ("Day 1: 1:00pm-2:00pm", "2:00pm-3:00pm")
  • The air base exists since the year 1941 as Las Vegas Army Air Field and was renamed to Nellis Air Force Base on 30th April 1950 in honor of William Harrell Nellis (born on 8th March 1916 in Santa Rita, New Mexico). He was a World War II pilot who was assigned to this Air base, he flew a P-47 Thunderbolt. He was downed on 27th December 1944 over Luxembourg by German ground fire.
