rdfs:comment
  • The House of Anemas, also known as the Anemid dynasty, was an imperial and royal house of Greek origin and of great importance in both the muggle and the wizarding worlds. It was a cadet branch of the Palaiologos dynasty, its founder, Stephanos I Anemas, being a bastard son of Andronikos III Palaiologos. Stephanos was granted the Theme of Nicaea with hereditary privilege, and despite the honours granted onto them by the Palaiologoi emperors, the House of Anemas would ally with the expanding Ottomans, knowing that the Empire would not survive against the Turkish menace.

abstract
As such, after the fall of Constantinople, the House of Anemas would maintain control over the area of Nicaea, and in return they gave their full loyalty to the Ottoman Sultan. Shortly after the fall of Constantinople, the head of the Anemas dynasty would marry Eudokia Palaiologina, granddaughter of Constantine XI Palaiologos, uniting the two houses once more, and inheriting the Palaiologoi claims to the Roman throne. The House of Anemas would eventually betray their Turkish masters, giving way to the Nicaean Revolution, which led to the creation of the independent Kingdom of Nicaea, and the semi-independent Imperial State of Constantinople. The effects of this rebellion would be felt in mainland Greece as well, as the Greeks would also revolt against the Ottoman Empire, eventually allowing the creation of the Kingdom of Greece. The Anemas dynasty would not be very known in the muggle world, due to the western prejudice against the east, despite Nicaea being a Christian kingdom, and in 1958, with the death of Philip I of Nicaea, the house became de jure extinct, as the successor was a member of the Habsburg-Anemas cadet branch of both the Anemas and the Habsburg-Lorraine dynasties. De facto, the House of Anemas would continue to be extant, eventually having as its head Archduke Hadrian Alexander.
