He improved upon that in his next race, completing all but nineteen laps to finish a career-best 10th place at Morristown, and then added on a 23rd place run at Langhorne. Van Horn's next race would be a one-off deal at Bloomsburg in 1953. Starting positions in the field of twenty-one are unknown, but Van Horn had a mediocre run to finish in 17th. Van Horn's final two races came during the 1954 season, when he started the year off at Morristown. It was another solid run for the driver, piloting his machine to a 15th place finish. Unfortunately, that was offset by his final career race, finishing a career-worst 53rd place at Langhorne due to an overheating issue.
