After going back into the Police Station another officer asked who Ian was and Russell replied "just another Chatsworth arse hole." It is possible that Russell was married or at least had children, as when Ian goes to the Police Station to ask him about the informant he stands outside and signals to Russell, but before he exits an officer is heard asking how the kids are, to which he replies "fine". If he was married it would explain why he risked his job by releasing Carl without charge or caution just to make sure Ian didn't tell anyone that they had sex.

- Russell (portrayed by David Meunier) is a man from New Bern who delivered a windmill to Jericho and helped the two towns develop a trading system. When tensions grew, Russell tried to maintain the peace, first by opening up trade with the outside world, and secondly by assisting Johnston Green when he is in New Bern looking for Jake and Eric. In gratitude, Johnston invites him to leave for Jericho when New Bern becomes completely hostile to them; but Russell, having a wife and daughter in the town, gently declines. In Season 2, New Bern was put in a choke-hold by Major Beck after it was identified as the aggressors in their fight with Jericho. Its residents suffering under lockdown, the New Bern Resistance came together not long after, with Phil Constantino leading them, and Russell a member as well. Russell and the Resistance found themselves fighting a larger and better-equipped army, and their circumstances worsen when Constantino learns that Heather was unknowingly aiding Beck in putting down Resistance activity, getting his men killed in the process. Constantino puts a bounty on her head, and Russell and Ted Lewis are sent to collect it. Instead of killing Heather, Russell explained what was happening and what Heather's actions were really doing, and instead opted to hunt down and kill John Goetz, and use this improvement in resolve to continue their fight, with Russell driven to do so because he had three killings to answer for in New Bern during his team's attack on the town and the ASA government was doing nothing about it. With assistance of the Jericho Rangers, Russell and his men deliver Goetz's corpse to New Bern, and so the Resistance claims responsibility. Later, however, Beck has Russell captured and tortured for information on the shootings, and ultimately he capitulates and tells all, admitting that Stanley Richmond killed Goetz. After being released, Russell continues the fight against the ASA, now alongside Jericho.

- Russell was a Human male who served as a leader in the criminal underworld during the time of the Galactic Civil War. Sometime following the Battle of Yavin in 0 BBY, Russell operated out of the Trade Outpost on the planet Dathomir as an illicit broker, serving as a point of contact for aspiring smugglers. Smugglers who had sufficiently advanced in the criminal underworld were entrusted by Russell with delivering contraband items to customers.
- Russell manages and owns a pharmacy that Charlie goes to on occasion. Russell also has three ex-wives, all of which he pays alimony to, which may or may have not been the cause of his constant abuse of medications in his pharmacy. It mentioned he has children with his ex-wives because he tells Charlie he has trouble paying at least one penny in child support. The first time Charlie was seen with Russell was when he was asking about the effectiveness of condoms in preventing pregnancy. Another time was when Chelsea was sick with the flu and having her period, and Charlie needed to go to the pharmacy to get tampons and flu medicine. Russell gave Charlie a special cold medicine with codeine, but when Charlie asked about codeine requiring perscriptions, Russell simply replied, "What are you, a cop?", something Russell often says when Charlie questions his business ethics. One time when Charlie was sick and Chelsea was going to the pharmacy, Charlie told her, "If you get help from Russell, count the pills." Stating quite blatantly that Charlie lacks trust in Russell. The one time Charlie was at Russell's pharmacy for sleeping pills, but Russell convinced him to buy medicated marijuana instead, which caused Charlie to have hallucinations of several of his ex-girlfriends complaining about him. Charlie once tried to set Russell up on a date with Evelyn on her birthday, but showed up at her birthday party with a thirty-year old woman in Season 8. Evelyn eventually leaves the party with Russell's date for a lesbian one night stand. Russell told Alan and Charlie at the party he wants to open a "prehab", a place celebrities to stay for one month to do drugs. Russell attends Charlie's funeral in the Season 9 premiere episode. At the service, Russell demands $38,000 for drugs that Charlie owed him, but Alan says it's something he has to discuss with the lawyers, but he says he doesn't want to involve the law. He has not been seen or mentioned since this particular episode, and it is likely that he may never appear again as Charlie has died. But he could appear again in the near future. He reappeared in "Welcome to Alancrest" during Season 10 when Alan took Walden to see him.

- Russell is a kid that supposedly lives in Danville. He appeared in a night of Halloween asking Phineas and Ferb for help because his house was haunted, then it was revealed that it was all tricks and it wasn't a real house ("That's the Spirit"). It's possible that his family does not live in Danville at all, perhaps instead traveling during the Halloween season.

- Russell is a very obsure functional programming language. Originally created Donahue and Demers at Cornell when at Cornell, Russell had some ideas like templates. Hans Boehm also wrote a book entitled A Logic for the Russell Programming Language 1984 about the language.
- Russell was ordered from the Hunslet Engine Co. on 13 February 1906 by G.C.Aitchison as Manager of the Portmadoc, Beddgelert And South Snowdon Railway, but destined for the North Wales Narrow Gauge Railways Company. A specification had been prepared dated 31 January. Drawings were prepared and by 26 May the engine was already undergoing steam trials. Three days later it left Leeds for North Wales. The remarkably short time in which the engine was built has produced several theories, the best one being the design was based on a class of 2-6-2T engines built from 1898 for the Sierra Leone Government Railway. Details differed, and it was larger than the Sierra Leone class, though of a narrower gauge. It was carried on outside frames to the driving wheels, with inside frames to the pony trucks, whilst Walschaert's Valve Gear was employed. Russell also bears a close resemblance in several aspects to the Hunslet 0-6-2T "Leeds No.1" used on a reservoir tramway in Yorkshire. Russell appears to have been a replacement for the existing engine Beddgelert, built by Hunslet in 1878, which worked the important slate traffic on the Bryngwn branch. This engine was scrapped on the arrival of Russell, probably being beyond economic repair. Under an agreement of November 1904 the NWNGR was to be electrified and extended by the PBSSR as part of that Company's plan to connect Carnarvon with Portmadoc. In January 1906 J. C. Russell, Chairman and Managing Director of the NWNGR wrote a letter complaining about the delay in carrying out the agreed electrification works of his Company's railway. At the time the work on building the PBSSR's new line had been at least partially suspended since the Autumn because of objections by the National Trust to the Board of Trade about the Aberglaslyn tunnels and, apparently only just resolved a few weeks before through the mediation of Lloyd George as President of the BOT. The delays were primarily because the PBSSR's sole financier (and therefore controller) was the North Wales Power And Traction Co. Ltd and that Company had overspent in its efforts to build a power station at Cym Dyli, designed to supply North Wales Slate Quarries as well as the railway. The Company was concentrating on getting the power station completed so that it would bring in income. This it succeeded in doing the following September, but money could not be raised to finish the railway works. Following Russell's letter the NWPT Co. Chairman had a meeting with him to make the best possible terms for postponing electrification of his line. This resulted in an agreement for a two year delay, and an undertaking from the NWPT that the PBSSR would recommence construction on or before March 1908 and complete the railways within a reasonable time of that date. Amongst other terms in the agreement was the following: "The Power Company to expend in restoring the North Wales Narrow Gauge Railway for present steam working and in providing one steam locomotive a sum up to but not exceeding £2,500." Russell was therefore ordered by the PBSSR, paid for by the North Wales Power & Traction Co. Ltd which had born all the PBSSR's expenditure since 1905, and delivered to the NWNGR as that railway's property. The aspirations of the PBSSR were not realised and it took until 1922 when the Welsh Highland Railway fulfilled most of them (although not the Dinas Carnarvon section) as a steam worked line with deviations to avoid the steeper gradients which had been designed for electric trains. Russell survived to be taken over by the new Railway. In 1924, to allow through running over both the Welsh Highland Railway and the Ffestiniog Railway, Russell had its cab and boiler fittings cut down to suit the latter's restricted loading gauge. This was deemed unsuccessful - although it made just one trip to Blaenau Ffestiniog, the tolerances in the Moelwyn Tunnel were found to be so fine that it was never repeated.
