  • Eden was an uninhabited planet located along the Romulan side of the Neutral Zone. Eden had two moons. While the planet's atmosphere was capable of supporting humanoid lifeforms, the planet was completely devoid of all life. All the plant life, even the grass, was filled with acid that resulted in severe burns upon touch. The fruit on the trees was poisonous. This made the world virtually uninhabitable to humanoid life. (TOS: "The Way to Eden" )

  • Eden is the name of a garden the Librarian made on Earth not far from the Portal to the Ark. It is mentioned in some of the Terminals found in Halo 3. It is important to note that "Eden" would not have been the actual name used by the Librarian. The Librarian's transmissions were discovered using translation software so advanced that it incorporates idioms from the reader's own experience. Thus, words such as "Eden," "fairy tale," or "Maginot Line" became the default usage in Forerunner terminals and transmissions when read by humans. This was likely because there is no direct translation for the original Forerunner words, thus the software utilizes human equivalents. These words appear in brackets in the Terminals.

(TOS: "Viaggio verso Eden")

  • Adam and Eve were believed to have been the first humans capable of resisting the power of the Pieces, presumably because they were devoid of the neurotransmitters that the First Civilization had implanted into their creations. The two were known to have escaped Eden through freerunning, after having stolen one of the Apples of Eden. In modern times, Clay Kaczmarek, a descendant of Adam, revealed Adam and Eve's escape to his successor in the Animus Project, Desmond Miles, through a video file named the Truth; this video showed glimpses of Eden.
  • Eden is the only planet that orbits an uncharted star in an unnamed galaxy visited by Destiny. It appears to be a paradise world with almost ideal conditions for life. The only sign of civilization on it is a giant obelisk built by an unknown race. There is no known animal life. Dr. Dale Volker found evidence that the winter on the planet lasts for several months and is below zero. A theory develops amongst the Destiny expedition that the planet itself and even the whole star system may have been built by an unknown advanced race or a higher force (God), though most believe in both.

  • Eden, also known as The Sacred Planet was a planet, believed to be the very first planet of the Universe created by Ashla, also known as The Spirit of the Force, and God. Ashla created the Universe, starting with Heaven, the dwelling place of Ashla, and in the Heaven, Ashla created life forms known as Force Wielders, sometimes known as Angels. Then Ashla created Eden. After Ashla created Eden, he created billions of different groups of planets calling each group Galaxies. After creating the Galaxies, Ashla returned to Eden, the first planet. On Eden, he created life - he first created the Zhell (later known as Humans). A Zhell man, and a Zhell Woman. Ashla named the Zhell man, Adok, and named the Zhell woman, Ezva. • Eden (エデン Eden?) is a mysterious giant space fortress from the Mega Man Legends series with a powerful weapon and around 10000 workers aboard.
  • I remember the warmth. That is the first thing I recall. The light was there as well, the soft orange glow of a dying star. But the warmth… It cannot be easily described. It is nothing like the cold of this place. There were others there, like me. We are large creatures, and so we do not live in a place crowded with rocks, as this system is. Our home is not filled with stone but with soft warmth, and with the quiet light of a star that has found its place. I was told that the star was young when we first arrived there, and there is an ancient one who claims to remember when it would still speak. I do not believe his ramblings. We spend a great deal of time as children incapable of rational thought. None remember this period of their lives, though the caretakers tell us that it is amusing. We chase after debris with a joy that is lost to the old, cavorting through space with an innocence that some have spent an eternity trying to recreate. But, of course, you are not here to learn this. You are here because you wonder what our purpose is, what I am here to do? There is a seed within each of us. As we mature, it evolves. Eventually, it multiplies. The process is… complex, and I fear it is beyond your understanding. I will say that we may exercise some control over this evolution, and that many of our race take great pride in the complexity and beauty of their creations. We carry this seed with us throughout our lifetimes, thousands of tiny lives held in an embryonic limbo. Some choose to never allow this seed to grow, unwilling to leave the glory of the skies for something so mundane as gardening. But others of us, we know what must be done. And so we leave. We leave the warmth and joy and peace of that glad star and depart into the cold void. None who leave ever return. No songs are sung of their success, no warnings returned from their deaths. None are heard from again. We search through debris and rocks and vast stretches of black nothingness, looking for somewhere that a small seed might take root and grow. It is a long, impossible task, and my telling of it would take many of your lifetimes. Suffice it to say that after a great deal of searching, I happened upon a small planet that looked rather promising. And so I took the plunge. That is not an experience I wish to repeat. The fires of the air scalded me terribly before I came to rest in the oceans, and my recovery was long and unpleasant. But I had dedicated myself to this task, and I could not turn from it. That seed within us… ruptures, that is the word. It ruptures on our landing. After that rupture, the seed is released. It grows within us, colonizing our bodies. As its numbers swell, some may find their way out to the world on which we have landed. I know that a few small creatures from within me have made their way to the waters of this planet, though the majority remain within. Eventually, I will expire. That great impact shortens our lifespan, and the growth of a civilization within us does nothing to alleviate this. Eventually, those creatures within me will find an exit. Everything will change.
("Star Trek V: The Final Frontier")

The Zhell and Ashla would speak to each other everyday, eventually Adok and Ezva told Ashla they were lonely, so Ashla created animals and creatures of every kind and gave the Zhell the job of naming all the animals. Adok and Ezva enjoyed the animals and creatures very much, but they were still lonely. So Ashla created the Twi'leks, a man, and a female, he created them. The Twi'leks were very similar in appearance to the Zhell, although the Twi'leks had tails on their heads, and their skin were a different color. Ashla named the male Twi'lek, Lethan, and named the female Twi'lek, Rutian. The Zhells and the Twi'leks became very good friends. Satisfied with their friendship, Ashla created the Togruta, again, a male and a female he created them. The Togruta's were similar in appearance to the Twilek's and the Zhell, The Togruta's had tails on their heads similar to the Twi'leks, except they had two big horns on the top of their heads. Ashla named the male Togruta, Kiros and the female Togruta, Shili. On Eden there was a garden, the most beautiful place on the planet. Ashla called the garden, The Sacred Garden of the Force. There was a large waterfall and lake in the center of the Garden. In the garden, Ashla would tell the people about the Force. The Force was the spirit of Ashla that dwells in most living beings, surrounding and penetrating them, thus making all living things connected by it. Ashla told the people, they could use his force to perform many beautiful things. TO BE UPDATED
During its voyage, Destiny dropped out of FTL near it when its Faster-Than-Light engine was disrupted by the unexpected star's gravity well. That gave several members of the Destiny expedition about a month to stay on the planet's surface in a camp to gather fruit and vegetables for the expedition's food supply. Some expedition members (including Dr. Robert Caine, Dana, Peter, Val, Rachel, Norris and Vince Kwan) decided to remain on the planet. (SGU: "Faith") None of the remaining members survived the harsh winter and most of them died from the extreme cold. However an unknown entity, possibly the Obelisk builder, reanimated their bodies, completely restored the damaged shuttle left behind with the colonists and sent them back to the Destiny only for them to die a short time later as the reanimation wasn't permanent. (SGU: "Visitation")

  • Eden is the fictional world where both Black & White games take place. It is depicted in the opening cutscene as a planet located within one of the many universes. Eden is very similar to real-life planet Earth, orbiting one sun and having one moon. Eden is inhabited by humans and real-life animals, such as wolves, cows and horses, but it is also the home of the Creatures: powerful, near-divine beings and a central element of Black & White games. Eden is also the place where gods struggle for dominance over the tribes. In the first game, Eden is depicted as a peaceful, paradise-like world, where villagers have no weapons and coexist peacefully with different tribes. At the end of Black & White, the player leaves Eden and returns after a long while to find that much has changed. The villagers are now more technologically advanced (somewhere around real life Iron Age). Weapons and armies now exist and villages have been replaced by larger, more complex cities. Different civilizations make war with one another and the Aztec are the dominating power of the world.

She was sweet, clever, witty as could be, and incredibly curious. She was compassionate. She could be incredibly sarcastic. Her sense of humor at six years old was better than that of many adults. Sometimes she had a temper, but she never held a grudge. She loved birds, mint chocolate chip ice cream, pop music and swimming. She could probably beat you at chess. She was a remarkable child. That's how we thought of her. It wasn't "Jane the Australopithecus" or "Jane the friendly ape." Jane wasn't human, but Jane was a person. She was like a child to all of us, and there will never be another person to replace her." ~ Riley Douthett, primate specialist and one of primary caretakers of "Jane" at Eden Paleo-Zoological Park for the last three years of her life. "Jane", named after the respected primatologist from the late 20th and early 21st century, was a genetically engineered "Australopithecus" who along with her three siblings made her home at Eden PaleoZoological Park from 2104 until her untimely death in 2110. Her story was a tragic one, for though she was a kind and incredibly clever being who touched the hearts of many, she was but a product of unkempt human curiosity that bordered on the unethical, who was brought into a world that ultimately was not ready for her. File:Welcome to eden by sheather888-d881kug.png Two passive plant-eaters, Parasaurolophus walkeri and Ornithomimus edmontonicus are almost always readily visible in the east yard, and frequently share grazing space, with the latter picking up small insects disturbed by the foraging of the former alongside much smaller native herons. Ornithomimus, while particularly prevalent in this damp and low-lying area of the reserve, can be seen on most days almost anywhere in the park, as one of its most abundant and wide-ranging animals. For every species alive today - from cat to salamander, spruce to whale, mushroom to mussel - there exist untold hundreds of millions which have long since died out, their lines ceased suddenly and terminated, often for quite unknown reasons. Over 99% of all species which ever have lived have since gone extinct - survival is ironically not the norm at all but the infinitely unlikely exception. Everything will be extinct one day, some far sooner than others. But today, extinction needn't any longer be the end. We live in a new and blossoming era - a time of change and renewal, of rebirth and rejuvenation. Like the warmth of spring brings life to the woods once again after the long winter, so too have we brought upon our world, of the ancients often forgotten about, a second spring, a second chance. They walked this Earth long before our kind ever could - and today they walk again. Welcome to Eden, where that which was once bygone is, quite literally, no longer a thing of the past. Eden is the name for the largest and predicted-soon-to-be most-visited zoological garden in the world. Covering hundreds of square miles of beautiful tropical wilderness, nestled among mountains and old-growth rainforest, in misty valleys and across verdant rolling meadows, it is over a century of effort finally come into its own and is now among the most picturesque and inviting travel destinations anywhere on Earth. Among the island's forests and prairies criss-cross hundreds of miles worth of hiking, biking, and driving trails, through mountain passes, over great lakes and rivers, and through some of the world's most beautiful cave systems. Take a canoe and spend a day out on the water, or enjoy an eagle's-eye view of the resort upon the sky tram. Eden's wildlife is spectacular - hundreds of tropical birds, mammals, and reptiles inhabit this beautiful tract of land - foremost among them, of course, the dinosaurs which have made the resort what it is; the one place on Earth where the Mesozoic has risen again. Take a trip back through the eons to a bygone world, a simpler time... we are going back to the beginning, to the start of it all. Gone are the days of movie-monsters and on-screen performances - here, today, we have finally reproduced the real thing, alive as you or I, and exactly as they would have appeared in life in their natural heyday. It is amazing the advances we have made since the days of 'Jurassic Park' and other science fiction. Today, fiction has finally become fact. Here, the world is young again. Here, the past is preserved and the future is bright. It is here that your greatest adventure yet awaits. Parasaurolophus Parasaurolophus walkeri, while a large animal at up to 32 feet long, is among the more docile dinosaurs housed at Eden. Not particularly bright, they're nevertheless fairly pleasant animals, easy to feed, and very easily combined with other animals - even animals far smaller than themselves - so long as these animals are equally docile themselves. Paras in captivity quickly grow accustomed to care routines and handling them is relatively easy compared to many other large animals, for they become very tame very easily if worked with from a young age. They are not easily flustered once used to their environments - it is, however, vital they be well-socialized to unexpected stimuli and different surroundings when young, or, being highly visual creatures as they are, they can be very prone to reacting with great fright from surprises - in one case a simple yellow tarp, something none had ever been exposed to before, blown into the field caused the entire herd of animals to cluster in fear against their barn, bellowing horribly, until keepers were able to remove the offending object and restore peace to the kingdom once more. Parasaurolophus are extremely popular animals at the park both for their immediate recognition by the majority of people as one of the "must-know" dinosaurs as well as for their fearless and entertaining behaviors and vibrant coloration. Both the male and the female are brightly colored (though the male is capable of blushing to even brighter shades during courtship or conflict) and both are highly vocal creatures with very unique and otherworldly sorts of calls, ranging from the soft chuffing of a mother calling her chicks to the ox-like bellows that express irritation to to ascending trumpet-like contact calls which can be heard from across the park, very clearly allowing even populations separated by several miles of parkland to keep tabs on one another's locations; it has also been determined that Parasaurolophus, like elephants, utilize infrasonic calls through the ground to communicate over even longer distances, possibly of ten miles. Though they may spend much of the hottest part of the day lying in shade to keep cool, as one of the park's few almost wholly diurnal species, they are usually out and about and quite active during prime viewing hours, moving through the reserve but particularly sticking near it waterways, where they find most of their food - soft and easily-masticated water plants. While they are nowhere near as aquatic as historically assumed, they do enjoy swimming and can do so extremely well, regularly crossing even large lakes and occasionally submerging almost entirely in their deepest depths, browsing on seaweed with only their humps protruding from the surface. On overcast days they are more likely to wander upland, where they may approach safari cars for a hand-out, revealing their incredibly long tongues and soft, gentle, and rather atypically (for dinosaurs) 'mammal-like' eyes, equipped with horizontal pupils not unlike a goat's. A close-up view such as this also reveals that the animal, while predominately hairless from a distance, is in fact covered - over its pebbly skin - in a soft, very short covering of vestigial filaments, the last remnants of this groups' ancestrally feathery plumage, which, while sparse, is still present and particularly predominant on the ridge of the back, giving them a fuzzy and pleasant feeling to the touch like a suede sofa. Eden's Parasaurolophus were first unveiled to the public at its grand opening in summer of the year 2100, comprising an initial herd of six - two males and four females. In the last one and a half decades, the population has gradually risen to thirty-eight, comprising two familiar units - a small herd of bachelor males in the east yard where they are easily seen by guests on foot, and a larger mixed herd housed on the open reserve most easily viewed by tours. Parasaurolophus do breed well in captivity, but seem to mature fairly late in life - no animal in the park has reproduced successfully until age sixteen, though most females began laying eggs four years earlier and even as adults hatch rates are usually less than thirty percent - in fact, some females have never laid fertile eggs, hinting more towards a likely genetic issue on account of the restored populations' genetic closeness rather than a natural pattern of maturation. Male Paras maintain large harems, usually singly but rarely with two related leaders, but only the females tends the nest and cares for the young, with males doing nothing in the way of direct parenting save for keeping a watch out for danger. In some cases multiple females will lay in a single nest and share the workload, which would likely increase the chances of their offspring's survival in the wild, as it permits each animal to take breaks to feed and rest while not leaving the defenseless young unattended. Young Parasaurolophus are incredibly troublesome animals, not for any aggressive spells or difficulty in raising - they eat almost anything green and suffer little from disease - but rather because they are on the whole incredibly dim-witted animals which quite frequently, sometimes on a weekly basis, tend to fall into holes, get stuck in moats, get caught between fence posts or between tree trunks, trip and roll down hills, get their heads stuck in hollow logs, and all manner of other stupid, if rather humorous, episodes of trouble. One youngster has twice tried to cross one of the park's large lakes and twice gotten himself stuck on the same small island, being too afraid to swim back the way he came with the sun now in his eyes - another has gotten her head stuck in the same gap between fences twice, after the first incident breaking apart a barrier placed to hopefully prevent her doing so a second time - her goal both times was a patch of dandelions just out of reach which apparently, to the little dinosaur, were much more desirable than the millions which covered the rest of the reserve. While none have been seriously injured in their antics, more calls for rescue have been made for youngsters of this species than any other animal. Their curiosity wanes little even as they grow, but fortunately their size leaves them much less apt to get stuck wherever they end up - it does mean, however, that when they do they're often strong enough to completely destroy whatever entrapped them, such as was the case when the same animal who twice became trapped in a fence as a calf once grown managed to stick her head through a gate in the off-exhibit shelter and, finding herself unable to pull back out, simply ripped the posts off the ground and walked away with them, still nailed together, as a collar to graze in the pasture. A few years back, one young bull had to be pulled from public exhibit for over a year during a particularly hormonal adolescent stage for repeatedly attempting to mount other animals and safari vehicles, nearly breaking the back of a very uninterested young Tenontosaurus and collapsing the front hood and wheel axles of a staff jeep. File:The sylvan islands by sheather888-d88z6fi.png Eden is a hypothetical zoological park existing in the relatively near future of Earth in a slightly divergent timeline, where fiction has become fact and dinosaurs again walk the Earth, which has been established upon one of the smaller landmasses of Australia's Sylvan Islands. Eden is located on one of the smaller, privately owned southern islands within the expansive Sylvan Island chain, a series of continental landmasses about 800 miles offshore of northern Australia, located right between New Caledonia and Papua New Guinea though closer to the latter, which separated from the mainland of Australia 49 million years ago. While closer to New Guinea, they technically still fall under northern Australian rule as their own independent territory. The archipelago consists of two small islands and a third considerably larger one in addition to several hundred smaller off-shore tracts of land to the south and east, together making up the Sylvan Islands. Within the chain, the largest island of Apollo is roughly 7,600 square miles in size, 140 miles long and 80 miles wide at its extreme, putting it almost twice as large as the big island of Hawaii but very similar in size to New Caledonia, albeit shorter in length and wider in girth. The park of Eden itself exists on the largest island in a privately-owned island chain just 25 miles south of the Apollese coast known as the Estates. Owned entirely by a wealthy American corporation, they are the largest privately-owned island chain in the world. The Estates consist of five islands under 40 square miles in area and a sixth island to the northwest considerably larger, 8.5 miles wide at its extreme and just under 40 miles in length, with a total area of 335 square miles; it is on the southern shore of this comparably large landmass, known as Isla Verda, that the Eden zoological park has been constructed, naturally separated for the most part from the north by the natural barrier that is the short but steep Walker's Ridge, the low mountains which shadow the north end of the park just past Lake Weaver, the largest body of water on the isle. The large island chain in general is only mountainous in a few select regions, such as the Walker's, however it is very hilly and rich in valleys, and is naturally composed largely of dense tropical rainforest - the climate throughout the whole of the Sylvans is considered tropical. Isla Verda itself has a number of free-flowing freshwater rivers and several small inland lakes. Waterfalls are very common and mists often settle between the hills and in low-lying areas, keeping the climate on the island a true tropical rainforest. Temperatures rarely if ever dip below freezing anywhere on the islands and average a balmy 80 degrees Fahrenheit (27 degrees Celsius) throughout most of the year. Tropical rainforest habitat naturally covers nearly all of the islands save for certain rain shadows on the largest slopes. The driest month of the year on the archipelago would be January, though there is on average never a month without several inches of precipitation. The wettest months are June and July; certain regions receive over 100 inches of rainfall annually. Most water sources on the islands are natural - several rivers have been damned to slow their flow and create man-made lakes, and the terrain has been artistically shaped and formed in select places throughout the park to form natural barriers as well as moats through separate park regions. The Estates, due to their ideal climactic conditions as well as their close proximity to both Australia and Papua New Guinea exhibit a fair deal of unique endemic flora and fauna in their own right. Birds and marsupials are diverse and commonplace and native placentals are entirely absent. A great deal of controversy was brought up during the construction of the 'Eden' zoological park on the largest island, as the considerably deforestation involved in the park's initial construction was considered by critics to be an enormous disservice to our planet's dwindling biodiversity; however, efforts were made at all junctions within the many years of the park's establishment to keep the ecosystem that would cradle the resort in as natural a state as possible - logging was avoided as much as possible, and efforts were made to keep the terrain as natural as was feasible, working with the uneven ground rather than shaping it and modifying it for their own needs whenever doable. Today, the on-going effort to ensure the coexistence of both the natural and artificial worlds is largely viewed as having been a success - though tracts of land were cleared for the Eden project, the vast majority have been kept in pristine condition, with work done to ensure wherever possible that the architecture and human presence of the zoo mesh as smoothly as possible with the natural world around it. For many creatures, the development of Eden has been a boom to their success, cashing in on the relatively predator-free, food-rich environments - though there have been losses, often criticized heavily by environmentalists in opposition the park's arguably/fundamentally profit-driven existence. However, animals displaced on Isla Verda are generally still present on others of the various Sylvans, which are not under private ownership. Several of these islands and portions of others, including several substantial reserves on Apollo, are in the process of being granted world heritage status and protection from the development which has claimed portions of the Estates. Though some worry the close proximity to the Eden resort may still cause trouble down the road to the protected forests, it's more likely that the presence of the resort is likely to attract additional attention and profits to the regions around these areas. In addition, media fears aside, the actual chances of any cloned organisms' escape into the wild, such as is often depicted in film, is virtually impossible in reality. With the level of care and attention given to keeping the animals at Eden at Eden and the additional fact that the island is too isolated to permit the escape of any except the most enormous, sea-going organisms beyond its shores - creatures which would be impossible to miss - there is no realistic chance of animals establishing wild populations. Even in the event they did, it is vital to remember Eden's animals are just that - animals - and not exaggerated killing machines. Though efforts in the park of Eden itself have been made to accommodate the creatures now housed there so far as habitat, there are no introduced Mesozoic plants within the wilds of the park; the risk is too great for their spread beyond its boundaries and furthermore the majority do not compete well with modern flowering plants in a natural environment. The park's foliage is composed largely of native and introduced Holocene plants, mainly angiosperms, although thanks to the park's geographical location, a number of extant Gondwanan flora does exist, both on Isla Verda and throughout the Sylvans, including a number of naturally-occurring fossil species not found elsewhere. On-going efforts exist to regularly remove known toxic plant species whenever they may crop up within reach of species they are known or inferred to negatively affect, however there have been no serious cases of poisoning related to the ingestion of toxic foliage; this is in part due to a preference for the zoo to keep animals only originating from the Cretaceous or later, which would be accustomed and adapted to feeding on flowering plants. There do exist some exceptions to this rule, particularly smaller species and those housed in the park's various indoor habitats. File:The greatest park of all time by sheather888-d8hjluf.png Fifteen years have gone by since Eden's beginnings in June 2100. From an already rather un-modest beginning has emerged a multi-billion dollar theme park without any comparison in the world. Gone are the days when stunted ornithomimus were the talk of the town, as Eden now boasts a growing collection of over 250 species and a growing annual grossing in the hundreds of millions USD, with an average of 18 million guests visiting the resort every twelve months. A company doing very well for itself, expansion and revision is constant, with plans for additional reserves across the world in the works within the coming decade. In the Great Meadow Valley, at the center of the park, life abounds. The largest single enclosure in the reserve, this beautiful, winding expanse of prairie and woodland, home to three lakes, is close to five miles wide at its extreme and extends nearly the length of the park, home to almost three thousand captive animals and innumerable native organisms. Accessible by air trams, safari vehicle tours, raised viewing towers, and the famous Eden monorail, the meadow valley is perhaps the most naturalistic environment throughout all of Eden, with representative species present covering over 150 million years of evolution and hailing from all continents. Nowhere else in all of the world can one observe such a myriad of biology from across the ages in one place, integrated with one another into the ultimate controlled ecosystem. Pictured here, the park's largest land animal struts his stuff, well aware he is without competition or predation in his territory. Towering above man and car alike, this gentle giant, a sub-adult Abydosaurus mcintoshi known as Andrew, is already past fifteen meters in height and still actively growing. At twenty-two, he has been sexually mature for several seasons, but with a growth rate that is likely indeterminate, it is not known for sure how large he will grow, as there does not yet exist an older individual in captivity to compare to. With no mature female partners as yet, he displays to himself. While males of this species appear to be relatively solitary, our bachelor is rarely granted his solitude for long, almost always being tagged in tow by the park's four others of his kind, younger and considerably smaller specimens of varying ages who flock beneath and about him for protection from unseen predators. Of them, the 17 year old female Abigail or possibly her younger 15 year old 'sister' Lucinda, is hoped to come into breeding condition this summer, though just when sexual maturity occurs in the female of this species is still utterly unknown and likely to be delayed in comparison to the male. Flighty and nervous by nature, the towering Brachiosaurid is a bit too much for a nearby mother and nearly grown juvenile Dryosaurus altus, who now, with their speckled orange pelts, leap gracefully over the grass, not so much as fazing a pair of more domesticated and omnipresent Ornithomimus edmontonicus, but startling a number of small native finches, including the endangered Bleeding-heart Parrot Finch (Erythura steveii), and south-island grassfinch (Taeniopygia sylvus), from the grasses in which they'd been feeding into the air with a whir of wings and warbling calls. The Ornithomimids pay no mind to the larger animals or their keepers and their vehicles as they make their rounds, with the pair simply moving into the shade of an introduced acacia for a reprieve from the warm late summer heat. In the distance, a group of Irish Elk, heralded by a single large stag, feed in quiescence along the edge of a wood lot, their naturally shaggy pelts traded for one thin and airy, an adaptation to the unnaturally warm climate. Eden's stock differ in other ways from their ancestral stock too, with the antlers of the captive stags, fed and supplemented well compared to wild brethren, reaching even larger than the 12 feet noted in the fossil record, growing up to 13.5 feet in width and weights of up to 100 pounds. Utmost care most be taken by caretakers to provide calcium to the animal's diets in copious amounts during the growing season, when males, which shed their antlers annually, must re-grow them within the span of nine months from scratch. Racks of Eden's elks' shed antlers have been traditionally sold at auction for upwards of one million dollars to anonymous bidders, truly being a one of a kind purchase, with the species, as with most, being exhibited only, and strictly only, within the Eden company. Though the elk have little to fear in the meadow, they do remain alert to stay out of the way of one of their most impressive neighbors, the enormous and belligerent Columbian Mammoth, the park's largest pachyderms. The only captive population of these immense mammoths - which, unlike their more abundant wooly relatives (creatures not suited to Eden's climate), remain a scarcity in the zoo trade - on Earth, Eden keeps at current two bulls, nine cows, and three young calves distributed through both the great meadow and a smaller adjacent grassland. Though they cannot compare to the grandeur of some of the dinosaurian fauna which shares their habitat, these elephants are still immense and humbling animals armed with tusks sixteen feet long and strong enough to push over a solid concrete and cable fence of the sort used to contain Holocene elephants with regularity. More temperamental than either of the recently extinct-in-the-wild elephant species of the modern era, they are no less intelligent and form lasting social bonds both with themselves and their keepers, or even other animals, such as in the case of Mary. Mary was a three-week-old mammoth calf - the third to be born at the reserve about five years ago - who immediately failed to thrive for unknown reasons and was required to be hand-reared and housed off-exhibit for several months in the infirmary, during which time she fell head over heels for a young gelding named Chester - one of a number of riding horses kept at the park - housed in the same barn and being treated for an undetermined digestive ailment. Refusing to eat or drink unless penned alongside her companion, who was later allowed to share her enclosure for three months, the mammoth formed a strong bond with the young horse in absence of her own kind and pined greatly when separated from him for even the briefest moment. The couple gained fame and adoration when, after four months, both animals were cleared of their issues and allowed to remain together in their own special pasture on public exhibit near the stables. This odd-couple arrangement lasted for nearly eleven months, spawning a flood of 'Chester and Mary' merchandise, until the pachyderm passed suddenly in the night of what would later be determined a stroke, leaving Chester alone and be-trodden, though quick to integrate again with his fellow equines, as the zoo's first (but not to be the last...) odd-couple came to a very unfortunate end. File:Bathtime by sheather888-d8afel8.png File:A meeting with microraptor by sheather888-d8hvkr6.png An Eden animal caretaker provides breakfast to some of everyone's favorite charges, Eden's colony of Microraptor gui - among shimmering iridescent adults a single awkward beige fledgeling still quite downy in feather. A small and social maniraptor from early Cretaceous China, these small dinosaurs are unique among non-avians in being capable of powered, albeit weak, flight in addition to lengthy downward glides. Today's meal is always a favorite - frozen-thawed mice. The Evolution of Flight Though Eden's largest and perhaps most famous animal icons live outdoors, as you enter the deepest depths of the park, you will soon come across one of Eden's most recently unveiled entirely indoor animal complexes. Part of the largest indoor zoo complex in the world, the immense 'Wings' exhibition - an indoor safari covering several acres and with aviaries 15 stories tallest at their extreme - takes the viewer on a journey 250 million years long, winding through 30 different exhibits, amongst them several expansive free-flight walk-through habitats, to follow the journey of two major reptilian groups from their earliest beginnings as ground creatures and their divergence into two of the world's most successful flying clades - namely, the birds and the pterosaurs. Beginning with such modest creatures as the small, timid Scleromochlus and the flighty, elusive Nyasasaurus - one of the earliest known dinosaurs, the exhibition follows a consecutive path through the evolution of not only the pterosaurs and birds, but all dinosaurs, leading up to all the large forms present at the park and of course to the final lineage - the birds - with an expansive aviary with over 30 species of Oceanian birds (and a handful of reptiles), several of them endangered with many native to the Sylvan islands themselves and exhibited nowhere else on Earth. Though Eden works predominately with the prehistoric fauna it is famous for, it has also contributed greatly towards the conservation of endangered wild animals including the Tuatara from New Zealand and the critically endangered Scott's false caiman of the north Sylvans, one of the smallest living crocodillians on Earth and one of the oddest, one of a handful surviving mekosuchines - terrestrial crocodiles - left in natural existence. One of the most popular of all creatures found within Wings is also one of the smallest of all non-avian dinosaurs. With their bright red eyes always alert and glistening with curiosity, the gregarious little Microraptor - a tiny dinosaur made famous by its exaggerated leg plumes often mis-identified as a second pair of wings - catches the attention and wonder of all who view them. Microraptor gui Microraptors, of which the park currently owns an ever-increasing group of thirty-six, have been exhibited at Eden for over 10 years and are, as anyone observing their shrieking flocks in action may assume, among the most prolific breeders of all the park's animals, being notable for their particularly social behavior for maniraptors and their particularly bird-like behavior, particularly in regards to nesting. Loud and highly social, they are largely omnivorous animals and are presumed in nature to feed predominately on insects and small vertebrates as well as fruit, a diet they too receive at Eden in the form of rodents, small fish and shrimp, quail chicks, locusts and grubs, in addition to both raw and hard-boiled eggs, fortified pelleted foods and, to satisfy an intrinsic sweet tooth, occasional berries and mashed bananas - some specimens also especially enjoy pineapple, and the species has even been observed to Microraptors that are hand-reared stay tame and docile for life and don't seem to be impaired by human imprinting in adults as some large dinosaurs do, still bonding readily to others of their species when exposed to them early enough on. Parent-raised specimens, upon leaving their nests for the first time at four months of age, also prove quite readily tamed and will eat from the hand quite quickly, following the lead of their elders. Though they have sharp teeth and hooked claws, Microraptors much prefer flight to fight and generally flee from conflict, the only exceptions being certain females - dominant in this species though otherwise indistinguishable from the male - which may bicker snappily over nest holes. Microraptors are highly arboreal but not strictly so, often scurrying about the ground in groups to find scattered treats in the foliage. When frightened, however, the microraptor is capable of a rapid burst of upward power, launching almost vertically from the ground to safety in the trees, mirroring the habits of certain poor-flying gamebirds which the species converges very closely with in regards to volant ability. Though they can maintain lengthy flap-assisted glides in a gradually downward pattern, they can fly upwards for only short periods before running out of energy, and under their own power at the horizontal for several hundred meters at most. They are excellent climbers and capable of scurrying around the trunk of a tree to avoid a threat almost as quickly as a tree squirrel can by putting to use the one major thing that separates them from the true birds - their long, fully functional clawed forearms, which while useless for supporting weight on their horizontal, are ideal for clambering upwards through the canopy, more than compensating for a meager flight ability. Microraptor at Eden are very clever animals and exhibit very complex social behaviors. Like certain weaver finches and parrot species, they are famous for building intricate shared nests from twigs and sticks at great heights upon support beams near the ceiling of their wooded aviary habitat that are used for years. First viewed as a novelty that didn't warrant concern, these have eventually have become as large as a minivan and of a similar weight before being removed for safety reasons - only to re-built to similar sizes within a six month span, prompting the construction of sturdy support towers within the aviary for the specific purpose of supporting these nests, which have since been taken to with gusto. Within the bulbous nests perched ten meters or more above the ground, up to twelve pairs of the animals may hollow out their own apartment, a burrow within the structure lined with moss and down feathers which is used not only for reproduction but for sleeping as well, with bonded pairs sleeping in close bodily contact. If not inhibited a pair may rear two clutches of two to three young each year, with no set season. Though only the female incubates, the male brings her food and water throughout this period and assists too in feeding the chicks, in addition to being extremely protective of their young. Eden's male microraptors are infamous for their tendency to dive-bomb staff who approach too near to their homes when young are about, doing their all to ensure the safety of their families. Microraptor chick are fed the same foods as their parents, initially regurgitated and later brought to the nest whole. Though Eden does not generally feed its animals live prey it is presumed in nature the parent would bring its offspring live animals to practice killing following fledging, as young at this age will still often brutally attack and worry the food their parents leave them to a bloody mess before eating it even though it does not move. Microraptors mature sexually at just under two years of age, but moult from their pale juvenile coloration into the shimmering iridescence of the adult by thirteen months. Microraptors are serially monogamous, generally switching partners following the weaning of each clutch and maximizing the transfer of genes between the colony. Though they live socially, microraptors do not hunt communally and will only rarely provide food for a chick that is not their own, generally if its is slipped into their own nest by zoo staff and is not of extremely different age from their own young, as has been done once in the case of the mother being killed in a collision with a badly-placed support pole and the father's immediate re-pairing with another hen and abandonment of the single offspring. Microraptors are very curious creatures and are particularly fond of shiny objects. Do not wear loose jewelry and watch your purse closely if near a flock of these little dinosaurs or more likely than not your objects will very quickly be taken into the heavens never to return, to join a larder of similar prizes deep within the raptors' house of sticks. In 2110, following a routine removal of old and decomposing nest material, a diamond ring valued at $23,000 USD was discovered within the deepest interior of the stack and eventually traced and returned to a French tourist who had lost it four years earlier. Though it had been reported to the lost and found at the time, nobody had thought to look for the item within the nests of the animals, particularly considering the woman did not recall entering the aviary, leaving the exact circumstances leading to the ring's incorporating into the nest a mystery. Being very alike birds and indeed also behaving very similarly in regards to medication tolerances and ailments, microraptors are one of the easier of the park's animals to maintain in a healthy state. Easy to feed, easy to breed, and relatively straightforward to house (in general, if it works for a falcon or any other modern raptor, it's fine too for a microraptor) and quite unique all around, the microraptor is always a crowd-pleaser and likely to remain so for many years to come. File:A new day by sheather888-d8ihlpl.png A New Day Eden Zoological Park and Resort is open to the public 365 days per year, including all holidays, and though specific amenities and exhibits may have specific hours, the park itself, including viewing for a number of animals, never closes, and encompasses within it numerous lodging, dining, and recreational opportunities for vacationing tourists staying within the resort itself. Indeed crowds are often lightest in the earliest hours of the morning when one can often find an unbridled view into the daily lives of all manner of animals whom come to life in the quiet of the night, with only the calls of crickets in the distance, bathed under the glow of the moon (and the pole lights). Eden is open through Christmas, New Years, and every other celebration, large and small, with attendance during these times often doubling or even tripling compared to other times of the year as families are free from work and school to vacation in a truly one of a kind spot. No matter the day, therefore, there is always work to be done to ensure the park's animals are all fed and provided for, that all amenities are running smoothly, and that all of the parks many acres of landscaping remain in perfect condition. Eden employs over 3,000 full-time staff members, from animal caretakers to gardeners to architects and electricians. Though it may appear mundane and natural for the viewer and indeed is intended to, behind the scenes Eden is in constant changing motion and under endless repair, maintenance, and change to keep it running in tip-top shape, a grand culmination that would be impossible without the smooth cooperation of its immense staff team. When you are maintaining a collection of over 5,000 animals, you cannot miss even one day. 8:45 in the morning, and the first of Eden's 15 safari buses comes down the trail from the garages to meet the first of the day's eager passengers waiting not far off at the station to catch the morning's first trip. The sun has been up for several hours now and the park's animals are eagerly awaiting incoming their breakfasts, rising in interest or - for some more timid by nature - fleeing for cover and peering out from a safer vantage, as the vehicles begin to come round. A pair of Giraffokeryx punjabiensis, a small giraffe relative hailing from Miocene India, squint in the light and move up to watch as the first vehicle comes up the dusty road, anticipating their daily offering of oats and fresh fruits. Further up a small hill, the dutiful male Gallimimus bullatus, a very large bird-like theropod from late Cretaceous Mongolia, leads about his active troop of seven young chicks, only three days old, without any help from their collective mothers who move about free of any parenting duties several hundred meters off-scene near the river, without a care in the world. A group of three of the small late-Jurassic ceratopsians, Yinlong downsi, had been busy resting and warming themselves on the sandy path but now take cover as the vehicle approaches, running into the tall grass, past several native birds which have adapted quite well to the park's abundant food and lack of predators, specifically the small white Jefferson's Heron - a close and fundamentally alike relative to the cattle egret - and several Rose-headed King Geese. At upwards of 35 pounds and standing over 4 feet high, the three species of these large and almost wholly terrestrial birds are the Sylvan islands' ecological equivalent to cranes and are among the most unique groups of waterfowl on Earth, with only a single close relative outside the island chain, the Magpie goose of mainland Australia and neighboring islands. The park's animals will be at their liveliest now, in the last quiet hours before the tourists arrive, enjoying their peace in their sprawling pastures. As the bus rounds a bend it comes adjacent to the expansive paddock of Humphrey, the park's iconic Deinocheirus, who runs to greet the bus and then to race it as it comes past in typical routine, a habit the large ornithomimid developed as a juvenile when, deprived of natural companionship, found an unusual but accepting friend in the older decommissioned bus parked near his grow-out enclosure. Nobody ever truly knew what he saw in the vehicle, but for several months he would frequently be observed to rest near and nuzzle it until his advances turned more ornery and he began to wear away the paint with his licking and gnaw at the hoses, creating a safety hazard. Though as a juvenile he was housed in the next-door enclosure where he could run up to the safari cars as they went about their rounds, accepting treats and pats from the guests inside, he was moved to his current separated enclosure once he grew beyond the height of the windows for worry he may inadvertently injure someone inside the open-air vehicle inadvertently in his curiosity, which had not diminished as his size increased. Though the smaller animals of the park can move freely beneath or through the strong cable barriers that isolate the behemoth from the service road through his pastures and beyond - such as the small group of nimble Hypsilophodon foxii which drink from a flooded patch of the Deinocheirus' meadow - some know better than to try, such as the attentive father Gallimimus who knows very well to avoid the bumbling giant whilst his young are so small, for while the Deinocheirus is predominately a plant-eater, he is not at all above a protein snack if the opportunity presents itself in a small and clumsy feathered package - as the occasional missing ornithomimus chick could attest. As the vehicle passes these animals, a pair of brilliantly-colored Blue-wing Parakeets - close seed-eating cousins of lorikeets - pass over, chipping their excited calls, gathering others of their kind for a communal morning bathe near the lake. Like the birds, the bus moves off too towards its destination - the loading station another three blocks down the trail. After its first pass, few of the creatures will pay it much mind throughout the rest of the day as it and the others of its strange, smelly and metallic kind become just another weird animal in the environment not worthy of much attention good or bad. The giraffes and the Hypsilophodon will move off into the woodlands as the sun goes hotter with the progression of the tropical day, to browse in seclusion until the keepers call them for a late afternoon lunch - more of a bribe to bring them to the viewers than a necessary meal. The Gallimimus will lead his young all throughout the park, letting them pick at all of the seeds and insects they come across in the pasture or near the riverbanks, possibly covering as much as a mile by evening and perhaps ending up in the far side of the reserve, having passed through or near the habitat of almost every other large animal in the park. He will watch them constantly and keep them in the protective shadow of his own body for as long as they can fit underneath him, to camouflage them from hunting birds of prey above, and will sleep with them huddled beneath his belly and hidden beneath the shelter of his wings, to protect from a night's chill or a prowling crocodillian in the darkness. The little Yinlong , among the smallest of the park's free-range fauna, will roam widely throughout the day but return to shelter in man-made burrows in the night, huddled together, if not for warmth then for simple comfort, as the larger creatures of the park often stay awake far into the reaches of the night. Only one creature will remain interested and fixated on all that the humans do all through the day, as Humphrey waits for that special time each evening where the keepers make time to pay him their special one-on-one visits, giving him a loving throat rub and a handful of sugar cubes, a little reminder of his loving childhood reared and attended to by the whole staff of the park, as one of it's earliest successes. Though many of the keepers who raised him have since gone, Humphrey, strongly imprinted on his beloved humankind as he is, will quite likely never forget them, as he honks in his loving way and gets up to race the bus every time it passes, his happiness apparently fueled as much by the laughter of the visitors as theirs is by him.

  • EDEN (エデン Eden?) is the primary universe where the events of the first trilogy takes place in. It is the home of the EDEN Civilization and the Transbaal Empire with all of its denizens. It housed the Val-Fasq race after their loss against the inhabitants of ABSOLUTE and was their main hub of conquest. The EDEN Civilization created the technologies that supported the Transbaal Empire after the Chrono Quake and was separated by said event. After the events of the 2nd Val-Fasq War, the Transbaal Empire, Eden, and the Val-Fasq were united. From then on, the union between Transbaal and Eden helped nurture the growth of the NEUE universe and later assisted the UPW in helping other universes. Its Gate Keeper is Milfeulle Sakuraba and the Chrono Gate is located near Juno. While it contained both the White Moon and Black Moon, the former was transported to NEUE while the Black Moon was eventually reconstructed.

(TOS: )
