  • List of UEG colonies

  • The Unified Earth Government, between the dawn of interstellar travel in the 2360s and the start of the Great War in 2525, colonised nearly twelve hundred colonies located throughout the Orion Arm of the Milky Way galaxy. This number declined steeply after that date, as the genocidal Covenant union of alien species obliterated Human worlds one by one, despite the fiercest armed resistance the United Nations Space Command could muster and the ongoing establishment of colonies away from the Covenant axis of advance. By December 2552, the UEG was reduced to just one hundred and forty nine colony worlds, many of them new worlds established since 2525, and only 35 of them inner colonies. During the Remnant War period, the UEG sought to simultaneously reconstruct its shattered interstellar natio

  • Carpathia the UEG name given to the fourth planet in the 107 Piscium system, located approximately 24.4 light years from Earth, and was the third closest system to Sol after Epsilon Eridani. As of 2525, Carpathia was the UEG's ninth most populous single world and fourth largest economy by GDP.
  • Bellerophon was a UEG colony located 145 light years from , and was the site of multiple armed confrontations between the UNSC and the Covenant. The planet was home to several urban areas, two orbital elevators and several surface-based mining settlements. In 2541, the Covenant invaded and conquered the system, defeating the defending UNSC forces and killing most of the civilian population, later abandoning the world. Following the Human-Covenant War, the Covenant returned to the planet, forced to make use of any available planets due to the damage the Schism caused to it.
  • Miranda was a major regional trading hub located in the outer sphere of colonies. The world was invaded by the Covenant Empire in August 2532 and, though the UNSC attempted a robust defence of the colony, it was ultimately destroyed with heavy loss of life.
  • Adrastos was an inner colony and a substantial producer of of war materials, and defended by a large contingent of UNSC Navy and Army ground forces. In 2548, it was the site of the Battle of Adrastos, a major engagement between the UNSC and the Covenant Empire in which the UNSC lost control of the world.
  • Ellandun was notable as the first new world colonised by the UNSC in the post-war period. Ellandun was a temperate and lush world with little tectonic activity and an abundance of natural resources. Its position and suitability were known to the UNSC since preliminary surveys undertaken in 2519, however colonisation was not attempted due to its location on the Covenant's axis of advance. During the Remnant War , the UNSC possessed just a handful of developed colonies intact, and reverse-glassing techniques would not reach maturity until the mid-2570s. Instead the UNSC sought to colonise new worlds to breathe life into its economic and territorial strength. The first colonists began inhabiting Ellandun in June 2554, nine months after a civilian colonisation team had constructed a settlement, a space port and communications post, and laid out automated agriculture facilities. The world's location was kept a closely guarded secret by the UNSC, with ONI paying particularly close attention to careless civilian radio traffic. In 2560, the Covenant Remnant assaulted the world, dealing heavy casualties to the responding UNSC Navy battlegroup but failing to attack the planet directly.
  • Durisdeer was, at approximately 70.5 light years from , among the most remote colonies. Named for a small town in Scotland, Earth, where a number of the first colonists originated, initial surveys conducted in 2430 identified key sites for natural resource exploitation and human settlement. Durisdeer was a heavily forested world, first settled in 2451, and quickly becoming a thriving colony based on exports of raw materials, particularly rare earth metals. Subsequent waves of settlers from Africa and South East Asia resulted in a culturally diverse population. The capital of Rowan, named for the surrounding forests resembling that species, was located in the southern hemisphere, and as of November 2530 had a population of 60,000. In 2526, as a result of the threat of attack by the Covenant Empire, a single Remembrance-class frigate was posted to Durisdeer to patrol the sector of space comprising it and four nearby colonies. The first ship to fill this posting was UNSC Aegis Fate, for six months from June 2526, followed by . In 2529, after three of these four colonies had been destroyed with no significant UNSC Navy resistance, the Durisdeer posting was increased to battlegroup strength and its orbital port augmented accordingly. In June 2531, the colony was attacked by the Covenant Empire, culminating in the Battle of Durisdeer, in which the UNSC Navy attempted to defend the world in a brief orbital battle. Following the UNSC's defeat, the planet was glassed from orbit, resulting in the death of most of its population.
  • Barrow was an Earth-like planet and Human colony world administrated by the UEG, and was the second most populous colony after Earth and Reach. Barrow was located in the Procyon system, 11.46 light years from Sol, and located within the inner sphere of UEG colonies. Barrow was first colonised in 2389 and quickly established itself as one of Earth's most valuable colonies, possessing a diverse economy spanning agriculture, industrial manufacture and a growing services sector. Land use varied from large urban sprawls, agriculture and vast swathes of little-traveled wilderness. Colonists from Barrow were known as Barrovians. Barrow was, after Epsilon Eridani, the nearest permanently populated star system to Sol. Like its namesake, Barrow's largest industry was its shipbuilding sector, which was dominated by Harland and Wolff's orbital construction yards. Much of this construction was carried out on the world's surface, with orbital elevators carrying components and ship 'blocks' to the orbital yards. Materials and components for this construction came from both the planet's own plants and from other colonies in bulk freighters. These yards were responsible for producing ships for the UNSC Navy, alongside those at , , and others. Barrow, unlike these other colonies, survived the devastation of the Human-Covenant War unscathed. Another multicolonial defence company, BAE Systems, operated a large surface plant producing component parts for aircraft, most of which would undergo final assembly on Reach. The UNSC 3rd Fleet was homeported at Barrow for the duration of the Great War, as was the surviving part of the 6th Fleet at after its defeat at New Carthage.
