  • . A mask was an object worn over the face and used for entertainment, cultural, or religious reasons. Commander Benjamin Sisko owned a 2,000 year old Yoruba mask. • Riverwyte, better known as the Mask, was a male otter and the brother of Bargud and Warthorn (the Skipper in Mossflower & The Legend of Luke), the uncle of Folgrim and Tungro, and the great-uncle of Mayberry and Catkin. Although his real name is Riverwyte, Mask is nicknamed as such due to his amazing talent of imitating the appearance of other creatures. Mask was also an expert of camouflage and could seemingly disappear. He was a warrior until his tail was cut off by vermin; he then retired to a relatively peaceful life in Mossflower Woods. Mask was a thin otter with grey fur and pale eyes who lived in a hollow log in the forest. He used his gift to disguise himself as a fox, Patchcoat, in order to infiltrate Kotir and rescue Gingivere, Ferdy and Coggs, using his cloak to hide the two hedgehogs. He was only discovered after Cludd stomped on his false fox's tail and the tail came off. After this successful and daring episode, he was struck by an arrow meant for Gingivere from Tsarmina Greeneyes' bow, which later killed him. Before going to Kotir, Mask had become a good friend to Spike and Posy, and as he died he told his companions not to mention his death to them, only to tell them that he had left for somewhere far away. He was then buried at Camp Willow, home of the otters. Mask is unique in Redwall for being something of a "dark horse" character--unlike many other heroes in the series, he is quiet and reserved, which is essential to his role as a disguised spy.
  • Mask was the nickname of a Jedi Knight-turned-Ospion Guardian during the Alsakan Crisis, a conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Alsakan Union in 13,000 BBY. Following the Conclave on Ossus, where a number of Jedi accused Grandmaster Banik Kelrada of murdering Jedi Master Edo Tesu, Mask and multiple other members of the Order left and formed the Ospion Guardians. As an Ospion Guardian, he trained Arva Sessren, who also left the Jedi Order following the events on Ossus.

  • In 1978 Azusa, California, Rocky Dennis (Eric Stoltz), who suffers from a skull deformity, is accepted without question by his freewheeling biker mother's boyfriends, his "extended motorcycle family," and his maternal grandparents, who share his love of baseball card collecting; but is treated with fear, pity, awkwardness, and teasing by those unaware of his humanity, humor, and intelligence. Rocky's mother, Florence "Rusty" Dennis (Cher), is determined to give Rocky as normal a life as possible, in spite of her own wild ways as a member of the Turks biker gang, as well as her strained relationship with her parents. She fights for Rocky's inclusion in a mainstream junior high school, and confronts a principal who would rather classify Rocky as mentally retarded and relegate him to a special education school, despite the fact that his condition hasn't affected his intelligence. Rocky goes on to thrive at school. He wins friends by assisting a fellow student with remembering his locker combination. Using humor when faced with an awkward silence during roll call, Rocky just repeats the prior new student's line, "Wow, thanks a lot." The class turns to smile and laugh with Rocky. He shows his brilliance in history class by giving a rendition of the Greek myth about the Trojan Horse and it being the turning point of the Trojan War. Gradually overcoming discrimination and tutoring his classmates for $3 per hour, the principal asks Rocky to accept a job as a counselor's aide at Camp Bloomfield, a summer camp for blind children. At his graduation from junior high, Rocky takes home academic achievement prizes in mathematics, history, and science. Rocky feels the need to leave his chronically depressed and drug-addicted mother, and helps her break her drug habit. At camp, Rocky falls in love with Diana Adams (Laura Dern), a blind girl who cannot see (but feels) his deformed skull and is entranced by Rocky's kindness and compassion. Rocky uses his intelligence to explain to Diana words like "billowy," "clouds," "red," and "green" by using cotton balls as a touchable vision of "billowy clouds," a warm rock to explain "red" and "pink," and a frozen rock to explain "icy blue." Diana introduces Rocky to her parents, who are put-off by Rocky's appearance, and do not want Diana to spend time with him. Near the end of the film, Rocky faces the pain of separation from the two people to which he feels closest. Diana goes away to a school for the blind and his dream of a motorbike trip through Europe collapses when his best friend, Ben, who was to come with him, tells him that he is moving back to Michigan for good. This drives Rocky into berating Ben and calling him "stupid", then finally revealing to Ben that he conned him out of a Rube Walker card. However, Rocky feels better after taking a bus trip by himself to visit Diana at the equestrian stables, located near Griffith Park. Diana tells Rocky that her parents prevented her from receiving his phone messages. One evening when Rocky's "biker family" is visiting, Rocky is fighting a fierce headache and quietly withdraws to his room, removes the tacks from his map of Europe, and goes to bed. Rocky dies in his sleep during the night. The next morning, Rusty, who tries to wake up Rocky for school, flies into a fit of grief-stricken rage when she realizes he has died. After destroying the kitchen, Rusty mourns the death of Rocky, then re-pins his map of Europe and says, "Now you can go anywhere you want, baby." The movie ends with Rocky's biker family, Rusty, Gar and Dozer, visiting his grave, leaving flowers and some 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers baseball cards by his headstone and a voice-over by Rocky himself, who recites the poem he wrote for English class earlier in the film.

  • Mask (pronounced MASK ), the Lord of Shadows, is a loner god, most often associated with thieves or those of otherwise ill-repute. He is a Chaotic Neutral Intermediate deity, from the Shadow Keep in the Plane of Shadow, whose portfolio includes shadows, thievery and thieves; although it previously also included intrigue. Mask's symbol is a black velvet mask tinged with red. Known for his constant scheming, cool head, and oft reserved biting comment he has recently lost a significant portion of his power, the intrigue portfolio, to Cyric. This has, of course, led to two things: an enduring hatred of Cyric, and the Lord of Shadows leading himself to be more direct than he was in his prior, elaborate plots.

  • A total of 75 episodes were broadcast from between 1985 and 1986 in syndication. One of many cartoons produced during the 1980s as a vehicle for toy merchandising, M.A.S.K. (which is an acronym for the Mobile Armored Strike Kommand), was a hybrid of popular era cartoons G.I. Joe and The Transformers. It featured a special task force featuring an array of characters, led by Matt Trakker, with transforming vehicles engaged in an ongoing battle against the criminal organization V.E.N.O.M. (an acronym for the Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem), with an emphasis on super-powered helmets called masks worn by the characters on the show. The original series focused mainly on the vehicles and characters from the original 1985 toy line. More characters were introduced as the line expanded with a second wave in 1986. The format for the last season of the show featured a racing theme to correspond with the theme of the third wave M.A.S.K. toys. A major difference from the first season is by the second, V.E.N.O.M. agents knew the personal identities of the M.A.S.K. team, whereas V.E.N.O.M. did not know their identities during the first season. The second season lasted for only ten episodes. There is a storyline difference in the mini comic books which came with each toy. In the comics, Miles Mayhem knew the identity of Matt Trakker and had originally helped start the M.A.S.K. team but betrayed him later by killing Matt's younger brother Andy. This was very similar to the second series of the cartoon. Due to the short-lived nature and new format of the racing series, many characters from the first season were given reduced roles to establish the new cast members and their vehicles, or to reintroduce older characters with new masks and vehicles. Buddy Hawks began using the name "Clutch" and gained a more prominent role with a double-act partnership with agent Boris "The Tzar" Bushkin. Matt Trakker and Miles Mayhem's rivalry remained strong, but the two usually only appeared in their own focus episodes. Other V.E.N.O.M. operations against M.A.S.K. agents were now exclusively handled by Vanessa Warfield. The toyline's fourth and final wave went to one other variation, "Split Seconds", in which the vehicles sold under the line would split from one whole into two different vehicles for a M.A.S.K. pilot and his/her "clone" holographic partner (a transparent version of the same figure carried with the vehicle), but the cartoon was not renewed for the fourth wave. Besides the cartoon and toys, there were also various merchandising products like sticker books and comics to capitalize on the success of the show. In the D.C. Comics series, the M.A.S.K. team is sponsored by an organization called the Peaceful Nations Alliance (PNA). Their exact relationship is never explained. The liaison between the P.N.A. and M.A.S.K. is Duane Kennedy. Duane and the P.N.A. did appear in the cartoon, although in a much more limited role in such episodes as "The Roteks" and "Assault On Liberty". It is never made clear what sort of criminal organization V.E.N.O.M. is, exactly. They were not the typical world-conquering villains and their schemes mostly revolve around profiting from illegal activities and doing mercenary services. The comics tried to give them a more believable background. They appear to be the foot soldiers of an even higher evil organization called Contraworld. Like M.A.S.K. and P.N.A., their relationship is not explained, nor are Contraworld's larger goals. M.A.S.K. Agents: * Matt "Hunter" Trakker - The Leader of M.A.S.K. as well as a multi-millionaire philanthropist. * Scott Trakker - The adopted son of Matt Trakker. His father raised him alone. He has great mechanical skills and is always upgrading his robot sidekick T-Bob with some new function. * T-Bob - The cowardly robot sidekick of Scott Trakker and can convert into a scooter. Is of Japanese origin. Occupation: toy designer. He often talks in Confucian riddles that only Matt Trakker seems to understand. * Alex "Megabyte" Sector - Computer and communications expert and Zoology specialist. Hails from Britain. Occupation: veterinarian and exotic pet shop owner. As an action figure, Sector originally came with the Boulder Hill playset. * Dusty "Powderkeg" Hayes - Auto and marine stunt driver, all-terrain specialist and tracking and demolition expert. He works as an architect and enjoys raising horses. * Jacques "Trailblazer" LeFleur -A natural disaster specialist and martial arts master. Occupation: lumberjack. Hometown: Québec, Canada. * Julio "Doc" Lopez - Expert in languages and cryptography. He is of Latino descent. Occupation: doctor. * Ace "Falcon" Riker - Former NASA test pilot. Works at a hardware store. * Boris "The Czar" Bushkin -A big, burly, bald, bearded Russian who was a former VENOM agent who defected to MASK. * "Chief" Nevada Rushmore - An American Indian and Matt Trakker's childhood friend. * Ali "Lightning" Bombay - An immigrant from Kandukar, India. V.E.N.O.M Agents: * Miles "Wolf" Mayhem - The Big Bad. The leader of V.E.N.O.M. In the comics, he betrayed the original M.A.S.K. team by killing Andy Trakker, and stealing half of the masks for evil purposes. In the cartoon, the origin of V.E.N.O.M. is a lot less clear, though Mayhem's connections to M.A.S.K. remain the same as the comics, and that he co-created the organisation. Mayhem's catchphrase is "I oughta buy you a new face". * Sly "Wrecker" Rax - A con artist. In the comics, he has ambitions of replacing Miles as V.E.N.O.M. leader. * Cliff "Blaster" Dagger - Demolitions expert and strongman. * Vanessa Warfield - V.E.N.O.M.'s espionage and intelligence agent. Becomes the unofficial leader of the team by the beginning of the second season, and is one of few agents besides Mayhem to pilot Switchblade regularly when he is incapable of doing so as well as occasionally riding shotgun with Dagger in Jackhammer. Falls for Brad Turner in series finale "Cliff Hanger". Came THIS close to stealing a space shuttle in "The Everglades Oddity". * Bruno "Mad Dog" Sheppard - A kidnapping specialist and another strongman. * Nash "Goon" Gorey - Overeager and boot-licking henchman. In the comics, Gorey was initially a new recruit for M.A.S.K., but was revealed to be a mole working for V.E.N.O.M. * Lester "The Lizard" Sludge - A smarmy henchman with an annoying signature laugh. Almost succeeds in murdering Matt Trakker in "When Eagles Dare". * Floyd "Birdman" Malloy - Biker gangman and expert forger. * Maximus Mayhem - Weak-Willed twin brother of Miles Mayhem. Twenty-five years after MASK left the airwaves, the line was "adopted" by G.I. Joe when a new Matt Trakker action figure was released as part of the Joe figure line under the name "Specialist Trakker", with a character bio explaining MASK and VENOM as special ops units of Joe and Cobra. In 2011, Hasbro announced a re-imagining of the series, under the "UNIT: E" umbrella, which is supposed to be a shared universe containing Hasbro's more famous lines such as G.I. Joe, the Transformers, Jem, and others into one shared universe. Not to be confused with The Mask, or the docudrama Mask starring Cher (it doesn't help that the latter film came out the same year).

  • Mask (mask) is self-possessed, confident and is fond of intricate plots, though his schemes are always getting him in trouble. The Lord of Shadows is wary but cool, never losing his temper, and he always seems to be holding back a mocking comment. Mask's ever-changing appearance serves him well: His true form is unknown. The church of Mask is widely feared, not so much for its supposed cruelty as its penchant for thievery and stalking the shadows. Most outsiders view it as a little more than an organized guild of rogues cloaked in the veneer of religion, a surprisingly accurate depiction. In political circles, the Lord of Shadows' reputation for intrigue lingers on, and astute observers have noted that his church often acts as a network of spies for hire as well.

  • It's been a great day today! Well, everyday seems like a great day.. only when my parents are out of town. Heh. I wish my parents were a little less bossy... just a little bit. Oh well. I did the usual things today, just like a typical 14 year old kid, playing Minecraft, reading fan-fictions, listening to loud music, stuff like that. But something did scare me a little bit this morning, as a joke. My friend showed me a website, just to scare the crap out of me. It had some odd design, where there were different hyperlinks all around the place. It wasn't really organized well. But she wanted me to look at the picture in the middle of website. Right in the centre. The picture was quite cheesy. It just said, "Click Here!" So I did. It lead me into a video, which scared the shit out of me, but we both laughed. That would be it, for now, journal. I'll speak with you later. June 15th, 11:54am, 2010 I do not know why I did it. I explored the website some more, and it was horrific, journal. No emotions. No colour. It was bland. Plain. Idiotically torturing. Pictures of people wearing white masks, videos of them dancing to outsynced music, emotions changing simultaneously. It had static sounds playing in the background. A video popped up, and I had to watch it, with earphones, deep in my ear drums. The static sound increased, the volume raised, as the video started to blink black and white. People wearing masks in the video started to come closer to the screen, closer to the camera, journal, as I sat there. Unable to move. It taunted me, as I couldn't even move a single muscle. I remembered every second of it, as the video caused my back to slowly become like theirs, crooked, bent and deformed. I felt heavy weight on my back, journal, as my back bent. Static. I stared blankly at the screen. My computer froze, and automatically shut down. I was free again. Why did I open that link? June 15th, 11:12pm, 2010 The day is almost ending, journal, but I felt worse than before. My brothers were outside playing a late game of Warzone, my parents were in Thailand, celebrating their anniversary, and I just sat here, going through some fan-fictions. Until I came across a funny fan-fiction. It had a link. An odd link too. I clicked on it. Nothing. Nothing happened. It just kept on loading. Until it loaded the error page, saying Error: 404. That's when it made me scream, journal. That's when I saw something unforgettable. My computer quit responding to any of my commands and it seemed like someone else was controlling it. I watched the cursor move to Firefox, and it started to type in a URL. I was locked in place. I couldn't move again. I looked at the screen. My back slowly bent again. But this was different. It wasn't a video, but more of a picture of the mask itself. But slowly, people started to fade in, with masks. My face slowly began to swell up, and my computer turned off. I was free again, but with a price to pay, journal. My face was swelling, and it didn't stop. I heard static coming from all over the place, and my ears started to burn. I ran towards a mirror and I saw my face, slowly turning white. I moved my hands to feel my face, as it slowly hardened. I screamed. June 15th, 11:20pm, 2010 Oh journal. This is a happy day. I finally own the thing I wanted. Thank you for the present, journal.
