  • Risa is an NPC in Xenosaga Episode III: Also sprach Zarathustra.
  • Risa was the capital planet of the Risian Hedony, a Federation Member State, homeworld of the Risian species, and a well known tourist planet. It was the second planet in orbit of Epsilon Ceti B in the Epsilon Ceti star system in the Risa sector of the Beta Quadrant, or the third planet in the Granicus system in the Alpha Quadrant. By runabout, the planet was at least a six-hour trip to Deep Space 9. (ST reference: Star Charts; Decipher RPG module: Worlds, ST website: Startrek.com) Startrek.com did not name the sector, but said it was the same as Starbase 12; the sector name is derived from the Starbase 12 article. Risa relied on mostly automated systems to make the stay of their guests as simple and as pleasurable as possible. If those automated systems failed, Risa would be in jeopardy. Before the introduction of automated technology, Risa, in its natural state, was a paradise. Risa, having become dependent on technology, then became an illusion of the paradise it once was. There were those who wanted to return Risa to its natural state, however, Risa had been unstable for centuries. Technology stabilized Risa's atmospheric and meteorological state with tectonic equipment to keep it from sliding over the edge. (SCE eBook: Paradise Interrupted) A starship, the Risa Express, transports people to Risa. (DS9 - The Maquis: Soldier of Peace comic: "Vacation's Over")
  • Risa was one of the Future Dean's followers in the post-Apocalyptic future that Zachariah sent the Present Dean to. She and the Future Dean were implied to be lovers of sorts. When she learned that he had slept with another woman one night, she angrily confronted him - not knowing she was actually talking to the Present Day Dean. Later in the episode, she participated in the attack on Lucifer. Future Dean sent her, Future Castiel, Future Chuck, and some others into a building, despite knowing that it was a trap. She was likely killed along with the others by the numerous Croatoan zombies in the building. However, since the Apocalypse was stopped in the present, this particular future was erased, therefore her current status is unknown.
  • Marissa knew little about the Garou that sired her. She knew her mother, Marie, was once a Silver Fang who was driven from her tribe for her crime. Falcon just couldn’t bear the shame of having one of his own break the First Law. Prissy, egotistical bird. She’d been Lone Wolfed and sent off to either die with her ill-begotten offspring or convince some other tribe to take her. They never quite counted on her thumbing her nose at the Nation and going Ronin but that’s how it went. No, Marissa had no clue about her father except the face it didn’t seem like he was a Fang. He certainly wasn’t there with him and probably for the better. Marissa might have something unpleasant to say to him. Maybe that was the reason Falcon demanded her mother’s exile, the Metis thought. Her father had been fresh blood and not a first cousin. How shameful to lob a turd in the punch bowl. Why /did/ her mother keep her around anyway? Marissa asked her once when she was old enough to understand the disgusted looks other Garou gave them - gave her. “Because I wouln’t let them win.” Said her mother, full of pride and arrogance. So that was where they stood, was it? She was a task to be completed. To say the relationship between mother and daughter was cool would be accurate enough. Marie raised her daughter to survive because to do any less would mean she’d lost it all for nothing. Marissa remained because she needed those lessons. It’s likely Marie did love her in some fashion, Marissa would muse once they’d parted ways. She wouldn’t have seen to her spirit ally otherwise. Her mother could have left her with nothing but instead she sacrificed one last time to forge that bond. What a way to show love. Saddle her with an asshole of a spirit. For all of it, Marissa rarely left her mother’s side. She just couldn’t help it. To think she would be left behind send the Metis into panic attacks, frenzies that would have her tearing through anything in her way to reach her mother if she was forcibly kept away. Life was unpleasant but to Marissa it was the only life she knew. They slept in abandoned buildings, curled up in the rain under overgrown scrub at the edges of the cities, even a few times in drainage pipes when nothing else could fit her until she learned to change. Food was what they could catch or scavenge. Rarely the dollar menu of a fast food joint when they could spare a few dollars for a treat. Most of the money her mother made doing jobs went to other things - clothing, supplies, paying handsomely for others to teach her a needed gift or ritual or procure a given talen ingredient. Wolves could hunt, no need to spend it on canned beans. They always kept on the move but always remained near a sept, both for jobs and to ‘keep the dark things at bay’. Marissa could hear them many nights. The hoots, yips, howls. The growls and chatters, scratches and screeches. The Wyrm was always out there just beyond the proverbial firelight of the protectorates and it was (more often than she cared to admit) not always enough. There were many times Marie shoved Awakened herbs down the throat of her shrieking and clawing daughter just to try and put her into dreamless sleeps, lest the child be plagued all night by nightmares full of ugly whispers. As Marissa grew to her First Change, Marie was feeling the strain of eight years living alone and tending to an emotionally intense child. She had numerous scars from battling to control a frightened or angry Marissa. More scars from the dangerous and deadly jobs septs sent her on to complete. Even more scars from the Wyrm that puckered across her body and itched at the back of her mind. Knowing her task was almost complete and her time running short, she threw all she had left into ensuring her daughter would be prepared to live on her own. Exhausted and beat down, when she felt the child was ready she Summoned a spirit willing to watch over her. The hyena, Upengo, that arrived was weak and minor, barely formed and desperate at the wild promises the once-Fang offered. And she delivered, giving over the Gnosis and Rage she had left after years of sacrifice to fuel the spirit and forge the bond between it and her daughter. Then she bid Marissa to go. Her task was done. She’d taken her crime and succeeded where they thought she had failed. The Ragabash Metis flew into a wild fury. NO! She would not leave. How could her mother just cast her aside like that? Here’s your parting gift now GTFO? But her mother rebuffed her. Marissa struck at her with claw and fang in her terror at fury, frantic not to be left alone and enraged at the perceived betrayal. She failed to remember her mother’s fresh sacrifice. Lacking in Rage and spiritual essence, she had no recourse to heal from the wounds her daughter struck in her tantrum. Years of sacrifice and she died under the claws of her daughter. A Ronin never dies well. In the end, she died by her crime. Marissa lived bitterly after. She followed the lessons she learned, going sept to sept and performing whatever menial or horrible tasks they felt like throwing her way in exchange for a safe night’s sleep in their territory, some cash, only rarely something more valuable that usually earned her a world of pain for the tasks she had to perform for it. Few Garou were willing to deal with her. A Ronin Metis was disconcerting, but her poor reactions and social skills made even the most simple negotiations a hair-raising affair. She said once she could likely be tracked by the trail of blood she left from sept to sept and most of the time she was cast out from anywhere she visited. When the opportunity presented itself she’d travel the road with a few other Ronin. There was safety in number, even if the company was rough and largely untrustworthy. Even half-sane company was better than the alternative shadowing their movements. For the Metis, nightmares were an almost nightly occurrence as the Wyrm whispered its sweet promises. Some mornings, waking exhausted to the core of her very spirit, it was tempting to just give in. Still she endured, driven by the ego inherited from her mother and the driving teeth of Upengo. So she kept walking. As the Wyrm grow more powerful and septs fell, the places to find refuge became fewer and fewer. The stories of her mother kept the Metis from petitioning to join a tribe and the treatment she received never encouraged her to change her mind, for all it would have provided the respite from the worst of the Wyrm’s hounding. Still she needed to find shelter and choices were slim. Hopefully Saint Claire would be the sanctuary she desperately needed.

The planet was located close to Starbase 12, a Federation starbase. A deleted scene in ENT: "Fallen Hero" mentioned Risa having three moons, and that the planet was Minshara-Class, with a gravity approximately equal to Earth sea level. In the episode's final draft script, though, the detail about the planet's gravity referred to it as instead being "equivalent to point-nine-one of Earth sea level." The planet's three moons were again referred to in the final draft script of ENT: "Two Days and Two Nights". In the script for TNG: "Captain's Holiday" , the planet's temperature was described as "the equivalent of a balmy eighty-three degrees Fahrenheit", and that "a warm breeze prevents the heat from becoming oppressive".

  • Risa, also known as the "pleasure planet", is an M-class planet located in a binary star system, with two moons. It is the homeworld of the Risians and a member of the Federation. Risa is located about 90 light years from Earth. Originally a dismal, rain-soaked, and geologically unstable jungle planet plagued by violent earthquakes, the native Risans transformed their world with a technologically sophisticated weather control network that provided nearly constantly desirable weather, and seismic regulators to eliminate the geological instability and for optimum tourist comfort. Known for its beautiful tropical resorts and abundance of pristine beaches, Risa has been a popular tourist destination since at least the 22nd century. One popular Risan attraction is Suraya Bay, where the Lohlunat, the Festival of the Moon, is held. Another attraction is a place called Galartha, a cliff face that changes pitch while you climb it. One recommended restaurant is a little boat that sails into the bay every evening just after sunset. Patrons wade out to it, and they serve seafood right off the deck. According to the Vulcan database, Risa had over 200 registered Nuvian masseuses. Risa is most noted for the frank and open sexuality of its native population. Identified by a decorative emblem on their foreheads between the eyes, Risians often initiate or respond to the desire for sexual relations through the use of a small statuette called a horga'hn, the Risian symbol of sexuality or fertility. Display of a horga'hn announces that the owner wishes to participate in jamaharon, a Risan sexual rite. In 2135, T'Pol tracked down the fugitive Vulcan operatives Menos and Jossen to Risa and pursued them into the planet's jungles. She killed Jossen but Menos escaped. Risa has been a popular destination for Starfleet officers since the crew of Enterprise NX-01 visited Risa for two days, in early 2152, for some shore leave. USS Enterprise-D first officer William Riker was very fond of Risa, and recommended that his captain, Jean-Luc Picard, visit the planet for shore leave in 2366. During his vacation, Picard met Vash, a Human archaeologist who was searching for the Tox Uthat, a device from the future that had been hidden by its creator on the planet in the 22nd century. Picard and Vash were successful in finding the device, but Picard was forced to destroy it to prevent it from falling into the hands of criminals. Geordi La Forge was scheduled to attend an artificial intelligence seminar on Risa in late 2367. He was ordered by Captain Picard to arrive a few days early to have some fun and relax. However, several hours before his arrival he was kidnapped by Romulans and replaced by a double who attended the seminar in his place. When told by Jadzia she wanted a suffering-free honeymoon, Worf was worried she wanted to visit Risa again. She had actually chosen Casperia Prime. Riker visited Risa in 2368, where he met Ktarian operative Etana Jol. In 2368, Captain Picard suggested a hypothetical choice whether to holiday on Corsica or on Risa. In 2369, Grand Nagus Zek had decided to go to Risa or Balosnee VI for his first vacation in eighty-five years. In early 2371, a Boslic captain filed a flightplan from Deep Space 9 to Risa after selling some wreckage to Quark. Later the year, Thomas Riker (while posing as Will Riker) claimed that he was on his way from the Enterprise to a vacation on Risa. According to Starfleet Intelligence, it was believed that Federation Ambassador Krajensky was kidnapped by the Dominion while visiting Risa in 2371, so that he could be replaced by a Changeling impersonator. Hoping to stop her from further helping the Maquis, Benjamin Sisko told Kasidy Yates they should visit Risa. Yates turned him down, but told him she would meet him there if he wanted to travel there alone in a runabout. Jadzia Dax, Worf, Julian Bashir, Leeta and Quark all visited Risa in 2373. During their visit, the New Essentialist Movement temporarily gained access to the planetary weather control system, with help from a disillusioned Worf. Later, control of the system was restored when Worf refused to continue the demonstration. Instead of opening negotiations with the Verillians, Farrakk visited Risa. At some point in 2373, Raimus was on Risa and talked a Starfleet officer who was in command of the weather control system there to become an informant for the Orion Syndicate. In 2374, Odo asked Bashir if an upcoming medical conference he was to attend was on Risa. It was actually on another "sunny resort", Casperia Prime. When Grand Nagus Zek disappeared in mid-2375, Quark believed he was probably on Risa. In fact, he had traveled to the mirror universe. Zek himself knew that Quark would say he was on Risa. Doctor Bashir asked Sarina Douglas if she wanted to go to Risa. Their relationship ended before they could go. Grand Nagus Zek and Ishka retired to Risa in 2375. Following the Battle of Cardassia and the prospect of a larger battle with the Dominion, Ezri Dax told Captain Sisko that "all things considered, I'd rather be on Risa". Sisko noted "that makes two of us".
