  • Team Plasma are the villainous team in Unova. Team Plasma's goal is to liberate Pokémon by having everyone release their Pokémon.
  • Unlike previous organizations' grunts, their grunts seem to be kinder, as seen in Accumula Town where they profusely apologized for accidentally hurting White and Black and apologetically told White and Black that they had to leave. They also, however, can have dark sides.
  • Team Plasma is the antagonistic team in the Unova region and first appeared in Pokémon Black and White. The player first meets them in Accumula Town giving a speech on releasing Pokémon. They appear as a friendly organization that seeks to be equals with Pokemon; they encourage others to reevaluate their current relationships with Pokemon and considered how using them in battles is cruel. Heading the effort is an odd boy named N, who serves as King of Team Plasma. At the end of the first game, this is revealed to have been a front set up by Ghetsis, who wished to conquer the Unova region unopposed by tricking everyone into freeing their Pokemon.

To fulfill their goal, they are trying to recreate the myth of the creation of Unova region by summoning one of the legendary dragons, Reshiram and Zekrom, and making their lord N to be recognized by them as the legendary hero. Their grunts wear knight-like uniforms and use dark-type Pokémon such as Purrloin and Sandile. Heading the effort is an odd boy named N, who serves as King of Team Plasma. At the end of the first game, this is revealed to have been a front set up by Ghetsis, who wished to conquer the Unova region unopposed by tricking everyone into freeing their Pokemon. In the second game, the remnants of Team Plasma have gone down to two separate routes. Those with kind hearts have united under the leadership of former member of the Seven Sages, Rood, and reside in a humble housing to care for neglected and abandoned Pokemon. Those loyal to Ghetsis continue to serve him along with Colress and Zinzolin, hoping to once more conquer the Unova region. This time, Ghetsis' plan borders on total insanity by trying to bend the powers of the mightiest member of the Tao trio to his whims.
  • Unlike previous organizations' grunts, their grunts seem to be kinder, as seen in Accumula Town where they profusely apologized for accidentally hurting White and Black and apologetically told White and Black that they had to leave. They also, however, can have dark sides.

Differing from previous villainous teams such as Team Aqua/Team Magma or Team Galactic, they avoid attracting unwanted attention and actually try to convince people of their ideals instead of forcing people to agree with them by force. In Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, Team Plasma is broken into two different forces, each with different purposes. One force vows to make the world a better place for both humans and Pokemon. The other one, with Ghetsis as the leader of the newer force, which intends to take over Unova. Colress serves as the acting leader, but is also subserviant to Ghetsis.
