The spellcaster Ilthic was the most powerful witch in the Empire during Ralfor's reign. When she perished, rumors spread that the Emperor himself had severed her head. The same rumors said that he had then removed the unnecessary parts and turned her skull into the helmet Witchbane, which was enchanted against magical attacks.
