  • Magic's daemon's and battlemages are very easy and quick to create, and require no buildings, allowing you to produce them quickly and attack your foe before they can get enough units to overwhelm you. Your units will need to take care of the foe's military first, while staying out of range of their defense tower to cripple them. You may wish to camp outside of their range and focus on their workers too, as that will eventually deplete all the foe's resources.
  • Magic (also called Juju) is a strange force that allows unnatural things to occur. Magic is used a lot in the Tak and the Power of Juju Series. Magic is used by Shaman, their apprentices, and the beings called Jujus. Although Shaman must learn to use Magic, Jujus are born with magic, and they use it for anything and anything. Because of this, Jujus are summoned when their magic is needed, and this is why Magic is also called Juju.

  • Magic is a supernatural force that can alter the fabric of reality at fundamental levels. The ability to use magic is a hereditary trait passed down from a person's ancestors, which allows witches and wizards to practise witchcraft and wizardry. The basic concepts of magic are fairly simple — even a two-year-old wizard can do some form of magic — but the inherent power and potential for misuse are great indeed. It is for this reason that promising young witches and wizards are sent to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry or other schools of magic to refine their craft and learn the art and responsibility of their power. At Hogwarts, students learn a variety of magical specialties as well as general theory and the history of magic in their world. Magic is unable to be performed by Muggles and Squibs. Their inability to perform is what sets Muggles apart from the wizarding world. As such, as a substitute of magic, Muggles use technology. In the same sense, many wizards are ignorant of the workings of most Muggle devices, including electricity. Both the Muggle and the wizard view their choice of tool as completely and utterly logical and ordinary, although each would find the other's tools fascinating or even mysterious. As per the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy, wizards and witches must constantly hide their magic abilities from the Muggle world, and thus most Muggles are unaware that magic exists. It is possible that magic, should it be revealed to the Muggle world, could be treated as a fourth branch of science, along with chemistry, biology and physics. However, as science is the study of the natural and physical world, and magic is a supernatural force, magic is not a science. However, in many ways magic does follow the laws of physics, specifically the Laws of Conservation of Mass and Energy. Whitestorm is the only one who isn't crazy! Dragonpaw thought and walked over to him. "Hey Whitestorm, why is everyone in the camp crazy other than us?" Dragonpaw asked. Bards are frivolous, while druids and rangers are feral in their magic. Sorcerers are regarded as being dealt a fortunate hand, or even freaks, and that wizards are true magical scholars. Yet zenith wizards learn their place, if not sooner, then later. Society has little patience for wizards who are up themselves, and some learn the hard way. Despite this, few wizards actually get into any real trouble. Serfs who deal daily with stuck up nobles find wizards to be humble in comparison, if a little eccentric. Nadir wizards dress casually, opting for subdued tones and favoring brown. This gives them the nickname brown mages. If law requires it, they will wear a device declaring them to be wizards, but most of the time they go to and fro about their business like any other tradespeople. On the downside, nadir mages are more likely to be mercenaries, selling their talents to the highest bidder.

Sometimes they do this merely to disguise themselves, but in other occasions, they may employ these spells channeling their own power to achieve complex effects, such as summoning, that they seem to be incapable of otherwise. A spell in the Slayers world has two components: * Chaos Words: Uttering these sentences takes up the most time while casting. The Chaos Words are different for each spell, (and the more powerful the spell, the longer the incantation) and usually contain the name(s) of the force(s) the caster calls upon and the basic declaration of the sorcerer's intent. The caster may skip this phase and only utter the Chaos Words mentally, but saying them aloud makes the casting easier. * Power Words: Basically the name of the spell, which needs to be declared after chanting the Chaos Words. Once again, saying it aloud is not necessary, but doing so does not take as much time and makes controlling the spell easier. Some special spells, such as Boost, lack this component altogether. Another important aspect of spells is that most of them, with the exception of elemental (air, fire, earth and water) shamanistic magic, are mostly astral phenomena, and as such always deal damage in the astral side first, before manifesting its remaining destructive power in the physical world. (Meaning that the amount of destruction they cause on the astral side is inversely proportional to the amount of damage they can then deal in the physical world.) Because of this, creatures whose astral body is sealed off or missing (such as the Overworlders in Slayers TRY) are immune to most spells. However, objects which naturally lack astral bodies are affected by magic normally, as the spell's full destructive power manifests in the physical world in this case. Magic in the Slayers world can be put into four categories: * Shamanistic magic: Spells that call upon the forces of nature and simple astral energies. * Black magic: Offensive spells that utilize the power of mazoku. * White magic: Spells that heal, protect and keep evil spirits away. Its power source is obscure, currently stated to be part of shamanistic magic by Kanzaka in a novel afterword. (See the article for details.) * Holy magic: Spells that use the power of shinzoku. A few distinct spells, such as those which call upon the power of the Lord of Nightmares, do not belong to any of the categories described above. In the Slayers universe, there is no established tradition of designating spellcasters based upon their specialities in magic, which is another major difference to many other fantasy settings; while a number of different "spellcaster names" are bandied about in Slayers stories, they do not actually correlate to a given spellcaster's affinity for magic, as far as is evidenced. Translations and non-canonical material do sometimes imply or state that this is not the case, but the differing names are canonically a result of different translations of a single Japanese term that is applied to all spellcasters in the original language.

Previously, human wizards had been using magic without understanding its true nature and were as likely to call on the power of Dark magic as one of the colours. Even today, novice wizards without knowledge of the true nature of the forces with which they are tampering will call on a muddy mixture of the different colours to work their spells, with Dark magic as an accidental but critical 'ingredient'. This often leads to the corruption of the practitioner. Teclis realised that the human mind was incapable of weaving the eight colours into High Magic. In an attempt to prevent the indiscriminate and muddled use of magical energies by those who barely understood what they were dealing with, he encouraged humans to learn to manipulate just one of the colours. In this way, they could become proficient and powerful in their narrow speciality while minimizing the chance of being corrupted by Chaos. However, by the time Teclis set up the eight Imperial Colleges of Magic, humankind had been devising, researching, and practising many theories of magic for centuries. The introduction of an official, Imperially-sanctioned sytem of sorcery did not cause these to die off: some were forced underground; others tried to get along with the new colleges and theories; and some preferred to ignore or dismiss the Elven ideas, giving reasons ranging from simple distaste to outright xenophobia or paranoia. Of the old schools, Elementalism in particular still has a strong following and a well-developed body of learning behind it. Zone magic - the manipulation of magical energies to affect the properties of a particular area - has a small but diligent following and self-taught hedge-wizards continue to appear in the rural areas of the Old World. None of these schools has a level of power approaching either Colour magic or High Magic: the Elves would say that this is because High Magic is the purest form, but there are human scholars who have their doubts. There are some magical arts, such as necromancy and daemonology, that use Dark magic almost exclusively in their spell-casting, though many practitioners of these schools deny it. Hedge-wizardry uses a bizarre mixture of the eight colours and an occasional dash of Dark magic, together with herbalism and sleight-of-hand, in a system that owes more to superstition, old wives' tales, and folk tradition than to any scientific study. Some might wonder why such schools of magic persist in the face of the teachings coming out of the Imperial Colleges. In searching for an answer, it must be remembered that the Imperial Colleges were set up at a time of great peril for The Empire and Teclis' main concern was to teach styles of magic and, in particular, spells that would be useful in the battle against Chaos. Consequently, the Imperial Colleges concentrate on offensive and defensive magic in order to provide front-line 'troops' for the battlefield. The study of non-combat magic was (and still is) neglected. As a result, wizards with less of an interest in fighting for their country (whether through cowardice, unpatriotic feelings, or a healthy regard for their own safety) are attracted to other schools of magic, where the emphasis is different or, at the very least, balanced with a wider selection of magical knowledge and spells. Understandably, the Imperial authorities are somewhat suspicious of these magicians and colleges - particularly of any organised wizardry outside the Imperial Colleges and beyond the Empire - and keep a close watch over their activities. All wizards within the Empire are required to obtain a licence to practise their art.

And, drinking potions will train the magic stat. Note that throwing a potion at someone will train your magic if it hits them, and their magic if it forms a puddle and they walk onto it. The number of the seals is also strongly reflected in the architecture and symbols of many of the locations related to the crystals. (As a few examples, Recumen has 4 heads, the red crystal has 4 points, Yeligar has 5 major appendages, Zelos has 6 arms, the entire Soltice offensive grid is hexagonally (six side) based; the list is extensive.)
