He had little help, but refused much offered to him anyway. He even refused an offer from Katame Shima to allow him to raise him. He would escape this island, presumably stowing away on a boat. He would at some point accidently stumble upon the famous Ryūchi Cave when he was still very young due to his ability to passively absorb natural energy which allowed him to feel the stronger force of natural energy emanating from the cave. He would meet the great White Snake Sage, who took pity upon the lonely child. He called upon a snake summoner, and made the man take in and raise the boy to be a ninja. Through all this training, Yamaren master many nature transformations, discovered his mother's clan's ability, and would learn many techniques involving snakes. He would journey back to the Ryūchi Cave and request the White Snake Sage to teach him an even greater power. The snake, seeing the man's potential, obliged and taught him the Sage Mode. Yamaren set out to help add peace to the world and would return to his old home. By now Gingagakure had been built, and Yamaren apologized to Katame for his rudeness as a child. He joined the village to aide the people who once tried to aide him. After Yōkai's disappearence, Yamaren would join Ginga full time, giving up on his traveling ways. During his adjustments into true village life, he grew close to Hōseki due to both being orphaned at young ages to now the two became lovers.
