Spotted Bear served as chairman of the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Tribe 1982-1987. She was vice president and instructor at the Fort Berthold Community College. In 2010, President Barack Obama appointed Spotted Bear to the National Advisory Committee on Indian Education. She died in Bismarck, North Dakota of cancer.
