  • Mako was Force-sensitive from birth, and came to resent the Jedi Order for not discovering him and taking he and his brother in. Even so, he maintained a hope that the Jedi would come for him throughout his youth, a hope which was ultimately extinguished when the Empire began its purge of the Order. Without hope for collection by the Jedi, Mako and Bolin began work for Black Sun, mainly information collecting and espionage. Mako and Bolin eventually left Black Sun after growing uncomfortable with the jobs they were being asked to do. They left with the blessing of Zolt, their sector chief, who had grown fond of the boys. In approximately 14 BBY, Mako and Bolin met Asami Sato, a pilot in the employ of the Hutt Cartel who was seeking crewmen to aid her in smuggling jobs for the Cartel. Mako and Asami became close, and he and Bolin ultimately joined the crew of her ship, the Fire Ferret, as smugglers. Mako and Asami became romantically involved for a time, but eventually ended their relationship. They continued to be partners-in-crime, however, and performed many jobs in the service of the Cartel.
