  • Cartography is the theory and practice of making maps. It is often applied in unison with other disciplines to create specialized information displays (i.e., geological maps, population maps, archeological maps, identification of hazardous areas, etc.) At the stellar level, cartography is most often applied as astrography or stellar cartography. Torrie Aimatsu was a Starfleet cartographer serving on Deep Space 9. (DS9 novel: Proud Helios)

  • To create a map, a mapmaker's pen and blank scrolls are needed. Also, pre-drawn maps can be overdrawn. Listed below are the minimum levels the player needs to create different sorts of maps and the levels needed to decode treasure maps:
  • Cartography is the study of map making. A person who studies cartography has a good skill at making maps of planets. Geomancers often, but don't always, study cartography.
  • The world of Wakfu consist of many regions. There are various methods of transportation which are Drago-Expresses, Zaaps, Cannons and Boats.
  • Cartography is a skill, described in Basic Set, p. 183, and referenced in GURPS Dungeon Fantasy 2: Dungeons™, p. 6, on mapping dungeons, and p. 15, on creating maps to sell after an adventure.
  • A map is a nothing more than a drawing on a piece of parchment. Yet, at the same time, it is the whole world in the palm of your hand. Maps are powerful tools and dangerous weapons. Do not underestimate them, and always make sure your maps are better than those of the enemy.--Kriss Bechaal, Knight Commander of the Bannor
  • Novice skyrates start the game only being able to plot 6 flight legs ahead. Cartography allows you to plot one additional flight legs for each level in the skill, for a resulting maximum of 16 flight legs.
  • Cartography is * "[t]he science and art of making maps." * "[t]he art and science of expressing graphically, usually through maps, the natural and social features of the earth."
  • Cartography is a technology in Age of Empires II that can be researched at the Market. Once researched, it allows a player to share their allies' Line of Sight. Cartography is a very helpful technology in the early part of the game, especially when allied with computer players. Players wishing to see the Line of Sight of their enemies will have to research Spies, but this is only available in the Imperial Age and is quite costly.
  • Cartography is a collection that can be combined in the game. Each Hidden Object Picture and Puzzle game in the Secret Society - Hidden Mystery has its own set of reward items that players can win, in addition to earning Experience points and coins. Many of these items form part of collections, that players can combine in order to win rewards. This collection is not associated with any Artefact in the game, but does give useful rewards every time it is combined. See the List of Collections page for a list of all collections currently available in the game and the rewards for combining them.
  • Characters with this skill are familiar with the practices and uses of map-making. They can read maps, even if they are drawn in an unconventional or archaic manner or depict unknown areas. They are also able to recognize coastlines and other geographic features, even when distorted, badly-drawn, or presented in a disguised fashion. Using a map, cartographers can guide themselves or others toward a certain goal or in a specific direction.

Using a map, cartographers can guide themselves or others toward a certain goal or in a specific direction. Cartographers are also very good at remembering directions and features. This is very useful in dungeons and may enable a character to remember a way out or recall where a passage leads. Tests are made against Int to determine success.
