With the Infinite Empire destroyed, the Commonwealth grew. Many world joined the confederation. For two decades the Royal Commonwealth was ruled by its founders, the Thungeskian. However, a group of Human lords began to plot against their alien kings. The lords launched a daring coup and overthrew the Thrungeskian dynasty and sent their race into exile. After the coup the lords elected the king, rather than the decision being decided by birth. This new system would remain in tact until the Commonwealth's destruction during the Yuuzhan Vong war.
