abstract
  • "Number of the Day (How Many Cookies)" is a recurring Sesame Street song introduced in season 47 to introduce the number of the day. Unlike the previous "Number of the Day" song, this series does not appear in every episode and alternates with the previous version. Cookie Monster takes the lead as he waits for his cookies to finish baking, which will correspond with the number of the day. He and the gang (Elmo, Abby, Ernie, Bert, Zoe, Grover, Rosita and Big Bird) sing and shake as they wait. Finally, the oven beeps and opens, revealing a certain number of cookies on the baking tray. Count von Count then presents them on a plate to Cookie Monster, who gobbles them down. (If the number is zero, Cookie Monster shrugs and he eats the plate instead.)
