From 2553 to 2558, Rear Admiral Jean Lémieux became the commander of the reformed Hyacinth defence fleet. Jean's ship, as well as five other ships were on the outer system edges of Hyacinth, undergoing routine patrol lanes, when the Created sent out their Guardians to police the Human-controlled territories. After learning of the dangers of returning to Jacinto, and the ship-disabling abilities of the Guardians, Lémieux and the other ships fled the Hyacinth system to an area outside Human space, in search for other UNSC vessels that may have escaped.
