  • Captain Jean Lémieux was a UNSC Navy officer originally stationed in the Hyacinth system where he commanded a Paris-class frigate attached to the Hyacinth defence fleet. During the first weeks of the Siege of Jacinto, Captain Lémieux became the temporary commander of the Hyacinth defence fleet following the death of Admiral Vincent Clare. Lémieux regrouped the defence fleet around Jacinto, and held out there until the arrival of the UNSC 30th Fleet in late-October, 2551. During the siege, Captain Lémieux became a distinguished leader which later caught the eye of Admiral Geir Gulbrand, who later recommended him for a promotion to Rear Admiral. After the end of the war, the newly promoted Admiral became tormented by the thoughts of those he let die on the colony world of Hyacinth ε, to buy time for the people of Jacinto, and vowed to never again fail those in need. From 2553 to 2558, Rear Admiral Jean Lémieux became the commander of the reformed Hyacinth defence fleet. Jean's ship, as well as five other ships were on the outer system edges of Hyacinth, undergoing routine patrol lanes, when the Created sent out their Guardians to police the Human-controlled territories. After learning of the dangers of returning to Jacinto, and the ship-disabling abilities of the Guardians, Lémieux and the other ships fled the Hyacinth system to an area outside Human space, in search for other UNSC vessels that may have escaped.
