  • He is an imposing figure who wears a black great helmet accented with large, bat-like wings. When passing judgement, he opens his helmet's faceplate and frightens the accused to death with whatever lies within, whilst reciting his catch phrase, "Gaze into the face of Fear!" The actual face under the helmet has only been revealed twice: once as a mass of eyeballs, and on another occasion as several grotesque mandibles. No explanation has been given as to whether these monstrosities are indicative of Fear's physical face, or if they are simply manifestations of his victims' fears.

HistoryText
  • Judge Fear is one of the former Judges from 'Deadworld' who elected to be transformed into one of the Dark Judges and follow Judge Death in his mission to destroy all life, on the basis that all crime is committed by the living and therefore life itself must be a crime. He has clashed repeatedly with both Judge Dredd and Judge Anderson, usually alongside his fellow Dark Judges.

Abilities
  • Fear apparently has the same power to become partially immaterial and plunge his hand into a victim's chest before solidifying it that Judge Death has. However, his principal power is the ability to literally frighten people to death by opening his visor to show his face, which seemingly becomes a representation of the individual victim's greatest fear. It is not known whether Fear himself actually has a real face anymore. Certainly, when he turned his power on Judge Dredd, the Judge immediately punched him in what seemed to be an empty helmet, uttering the immortal line "Gaze into the fist of Dredd!" .
