At the same time, a few of the residents of Coronation Street were looking for Darryl, the beloved pet rat of Craig Tinker's that had escaped when Liam Connor Jr. had let him out of his cage. The passing engineer saw Tim Metcalfe searching and asked if it was a dog he had lost. Upon hearing it was rat, he sadly opened the shoebox he was carrying and showed him the dead electrocuted rat - it had been Darryl who caused the lift breakdown when he bit through one of the cables.
