- A closet is a single square located behind a door. Often the door is a secret door. Closets are referred to as niches in the source code. Sometimes closets are generated without doors leading to them. The only way to get to these is for a corridor to be generated adjacent to them, or to teleport or dig in. Such closets always have a scroll of teleportation inside, and a potion of object detection will reveal its presence. Every closet has either a door or a scroll of teleportation. Monsters can be generated inside closets just like on any other square.

(DS9: "The Quickening") In 2373, an about-to-be married Rom worried about where Leeta would put all her clothes, saying he didn't have enough closet space. (DS9: "Call to Arms")
- Closets in Apartment Life are treated as objects, and are purchased in buy mode. However, closet objects are designed with the intent to be used as part of the structure of a house, rather than as a free-standing object.

abstract | - Benson and Stabler probe the murder of an investment banker. Elsewhere, Benson starts dating a newspaper editor, but his work conflicts with her position at the department.
- Closets in Apartment Life are treated as objects, and are purchased in buy mode. However, closet objects are designed with the intent to be used as part of the structure of a house, rather than as a free-standing object. Functionally, closets are the same as dressers. Clothes become available in closets after being purchased by a Sim on a community lot, though some custom content allows Sims to get new clothes while at home. Sims also receive a set of clothes when they age. Beginning with University, any career outfits a Sim receives are also available in a closet. Once an item of clothing is in a closet or dresser, it becomes available to all household members of the appropriate age and gender, for as long as the household continues to exist. When at least two items of a particular clothing type are available, the player can use the Plan Outfit interaction to choose one of them; if the Sim is wearing that type of clothing, he or she will change clothes. There are two types of closets: "rack" closet objects, and in-wall closets. A closet rack is an object with a 1x1 footprint, available in a male or female variant (though both can be used by either gender), and priced at §75. Closet racks can be added to a custom-built closet, allowing the construction of large "walk-in closets." An in-wall closet is an object with a 2x1 footprint, which must be placed on an open stretch of wall at least two tiles wide. In-wall closets feature a sliding double door, available either with or without a mirror, and are priced at §1049 and §1050, respectively. In-wall closets can be used by Sims to WooHoo (including "Try for Baby"), and mirrored in-wall closets have a fully-functional mirror.
- A Closet is a type of furniture in Fable II that can contain items. The items found in the cupboard range from gifts (chocolate, flowers, toys, etc.), books, or other random items. Closets tend to contain more clothing related items. When you press (or hold) A on a closet, there are two possible actions: steal or search. Stealing is performed when you take items from a closet in a house other than your own. It gives you 5 evil points and you run the risk of getting put under arrest (or if you are in Bloodstone, a witness of stealing will attack you). It also is considered stealing when taking items from a closet even while renting out a house that belongs to you. An "eyeball" icon will appear above the cupboard indicating whether or not you will be spotted when attempting to steal. Searching is just the opposite; when you take items from the closets(s) in your own house.

(TNG: "In Theory" ) In 2372, an embarrassed Julian Bashir lied to Ekoria about keeping his old stuffed animal Kukalaka in a closet somewhere, quickly admitting it was actually in a shelf in his room. (DS9: "The Quickening") In 2373, an about-to-be married Rom worried about where Leeta would put all her clothes, saying he didn't have enough closet space. (DS9: "Call to Arms") Also that year, The Doctor told his holographic daughter, Belle, that she should put her ion mallet away in the closet next time and then she'd know where it was. (VOY: "Real Life") Closets were often utilized as a hiding place. In 2266, James T. Kirk coaxed a frightened Miri out of a closet. (TOS: "Miri" ) In 2368, Clara Sutter suggested that Deanna Troi look for Isabella in the closet. (TNG: "Imaginary Friend" ) In 2373, Quark found Grand Nagus Zek (who was courting Ishka) and his servant Maihar'du hiding in his closet; later Liquidator Brunt materialized there so as not to disturb the couple. (DS9: "Ferengi Love Songs") Jadzia Dax also found Kira Nerys and Odo having a romantic interlude in her closet. (DS9: "You Are Cordially Invited") Closets could also be used as places of confinement, either as punishment or to keep somebody from interfering with one's plans. In 2285, Nyota Uhura locked an eager lieutenant into a closet at phaserpoint. (Star Trek III: The Search for Spock) Elim Garak's father locked him in a closet for misbehaving. (DS9: "Afterimage") In 2374, hearing of Tom Paris's repeated escapes from his stasis unit, Harry Kim asked him whether he'd been locked in dark closets as a child. (VOY: "One") In addition, any tight confined space could be metaphorically referred to as a closet. In 2374, Leck referred to both Brunt's shuttle and the infirmary on Empok Nor as closets. (DS9: "The Magnificent Ferengi")

There is sometimes writing in the dust outside. The engraving ad aerarium (from the Latin "to the treasure") indicates that the closet contains a vault teleporter, and the engraving Vlad was here indicates that there is a trap door inside. On deeper levels, a closet marked with ad aerarium may have a level teleporter instead. This is a pun on a secondary meaning of "aerarium" as sky. Monsters can be generated inside closets just like on any other square.
