  • This skill enables characters to operate, maintain, and repair complex machinery constructed by the Guild of Dwarf engineers. Tests to maintain the machine are treated as a Construct test, to which the characters with this skill receive a modifier of +20. Construct tests are also used to repair the machine, but this skill confers no bonuses - it just permits the skilled character to attempt the test. The GM can impose modifiers to the test depending on the severity of the problem and the circumstances in which the repair is being carried out.

Although all Dwarf machines are steam powered, each requires a specific type of expertise. A character with this skill will know all aspects of one of the following: * Gunboat * Gyrocopter * Nautilus submersible * War balloon * Warship (Dreadnought, Ironclad and Monitor class) This skill must be purchased separately for each class of machine.
