Starting 12th in the field of twenty-six, Sexton had a decent race and drove onto a respectable finish: 14th. Sexton's next race came in the 1967 season opener, competing at Augusta. Starting 24th in the twenty-five car field, 24th is right where Sexon would finish after an early ball joint issue. Sexton's final race came in 1969, competing near his home town by racing at Greenville. Starting 22nd in the field of twenty-five, Sexton again finished 24th after falling out early.
