  • Hundreds or thousands of years ago, an "ancient guardian" was captured and caged during a Great War. Texts were written of this beast and survived long after the authors had passed away. The guardian remained caged, hibernating for an unknown length of time and lived only on the remains of previous inhabitants of the Ice Palace. In the present day, Friday and his family decided to explore the Ice Castle but were caught out when Doctor Robotnik's Trooper Badniks arrived to take control. Not wanting to be turned into Badniks, Friday's friends discovered the ancient texts and opted to free the guardian, supposedly destroying the Troopers. However, the guardian was now blocking the explorer's exit from the castle. Some years later, Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails arrived to investigate the building, but were attacked by the serpent. The beast destroyed the icy bridge the heroes were standing on, sending Sonic plunging into the water. Tails swam after him and swam him to safety, despite being attacked on the way. Eventually, they made their way to a tiny gap in the wall where the guardian could not follow. After finding Friday and learning of his predicament, Sonic planned to use an attack to incapacitate the guardian. However, Tails came up with an alternative, asking Sonic to use a whirlwind to melt the ice, creating a hole to the outside. The guardian attacked Sonic before he could finish but missed him, instead crashing into the weakened ice. The confused dragon plunged into the ocean and swam away, hoping to find others of his kind.
